Could we be falling into a another Loki/Joker situation, with a villain more charismatic and interesting than the hero?

Kingpin really came off as a stone cold bad ass in the latest trailer, and from what I've heard, the Netflix show is going to be just as much a Kingpin origin as it is a Daredevil origin. With heavy focus on Wilson Fisk's rise to power, personal life etc.

Thoughts?

of course. the actor playing his is always going to out perform his counterpart.

It's certainly possible, and honestly, I wouldn't really mind. The Kingpin is bigger than just a DD villain anyway.

Yea that what I'm thinking. As long as it's an entertaining well made show, That's all I care about.
Batmans known to have more "interesting" villains than himself, and it's never hurt his popularity.

He seems to be the best Marvel Studios villain. I wouldn't be shocked.

Well, how else is he supposed to handle 3 protagonist/heroes simultaneously(Spidey, Punisher and DD)? Yeah, I think he will but as long as we still get the goods on DD then it should be ok.

How cool would it be if he shows up in Marvel's Spider-Man? Not as a main villain or anything, but just a small cameo role.

I think it'd be pretty cool if he had a cameo in Civil War. Nothing major. Let's just say Tony Stark gets brought into a conference room with various corporate entities and businessmen with a vested interest in getting superheroes registered (or whatever lies at the core of the division in the film), and Fisk's there in the room among them. Have him and Stark have a few terse exchanges of dialogue.

I still want him to be the villain in a future Spider-Man project. Kingpin is more of a "NYC" villain, all of the heroes have to deal with him. And seeing Spidey/DD/and Punisher have to work together to try and take down Fisk's criminal empire would be EPIC!!

I don't think he will outshine Murdock. Matt is a great, deep and complex character, and it seems Cox is amazing. That said, I could see people talking about the kingpin as much as they are talking about DD.

Kingpin is likely to get more development than any other Marvel villain because its a series format. And he will be featured heavily in the future.

I doubt it will ever happen. This Kingpin would probably break Spider-Man in half and then stuff Aunt May in a refrigerator as punishment for Spidey touching him.

So will D'Onofrio make fangirls squee at this year or 2016's Comic-Con like Hiddleston did in '13?

after seeing some of the things kingpin has done in this show, I don't think we'll be seeing him on the big screen.

He'll continue to be a major player in the TV part of the MCU though, I'm sure.

I suppose they could tone down his more violent acts if they wanted to put him in a Spider-Man movie or something.

He could be in the films, those things don't have to occur he clearly doesn't do it all the time, or it could just be implied.

As long as Spider-Man fights Kingpin when there are no cars around he will be okay.

I totally agree. Can't see this Kingpin in the more lighthearted Spidey film otherwise he won't be the same character at all. I think he will maintain a presence in the Netflix shows culminating in the Defenders.

He'd take out the chocolate cake first though.

Ok so now that the show's been released, let's answer the big questions:

-Does Kingpin "outshine" Daredevil? Absolutely not.

-Is he a fantastic villain? Oh Hell yes he is.

Agreed on both accounts. Everyone is simply fantastic in this show, but this is definitely Cox's show. That said, D'onofrio may very well be one of the best villain ever. He's fascinating. And man, is he frightening when he fights...

Eh. I don't like the actor playing Kingpin but we'll see, he's definitely violent. But he's not as good as Daredevil especially if we are gonna judge the performances of the actors.

Performance-wise, I thought everyone was great. Urich was my personal favorite in terms of performance. Murdock and Fisk were superb as well.

That's the thing with great actors (and great writing) though. The greatest actors don't necessarily outshine everybody else, but rather challenge everyone to up their game. And give even Daniel Day-Lewis crap material and it will undoubtedly wind up being a crap performance. Every character got wonderful material to play with and everyone was absolutely up to the task.

Kingpin can and for a couple of moments did outshine Daredevil.
