Could Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers carry a film franchise, or is she just too obscure a character to really hold her own at the box office? What say you, true believers?

No she can't

Depends on who plays Ms. Marvel... and how little time she spends dressed.

She could maybe show up in an Avengers movie, not her own though. Ali Larter wouldn't be a bad choice for her.

Yes, she could. I love her current book, especially when it's not tying into some other Marvel event, and Ali Larter is the best choice

Movie 1 she could fight Cru and the Brood
Movie 2 she could battle with Warren Traveler

No. Sadly, movie going audiences aren't big into female lead movies unless its some stupid RomCom.

Brian Reed would have to write it

If they can't even get Wonder Woman off the ground then I doubt they will be able to get Ms.Marvel.

I wouldn't be offended by a Ms. Marvel movie, but for now I could only see the Marvel brass including her in an Avengers group movie.. In fact, hopefully she will be eventually in the Avengers films..
hopefully its the current outfit.. though the first one with the scarf is still nice..

Maybe, but I dont see it being seriously discussed anytime soon. I'm sure alot of people would ask, "Who's Ms. Marvel?", with some possibly only remembering her appearances in the 1990's X-Men animated series.

It's doable but very high risk financially for some of the same reasons stated here by others. I'd rather see a CAPT. MARV-ELL (sp)? film with Rick Jones and Thanos.

If even at that, I suppose that's how a lot of people who have only a casual knowledge of the characters may even know her - as the woman Rogue stole her flight/strength/stamina powers from and left in a coma.

Dont know if shes interesting enough. Plus her costume is godawful.

Sad but true. However, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be attempted with the right script, actress ...etc.

WW is DC/WB. That can't get dick made that isn't Batman or Superman. Marvel has been built on taking risks on lesser known characters. (Blade, Daredevil, Iron Man). They're not always successful but at least they get movies made.

I think the main problem with a Ms. Marvel franchise is the effects budget they would need to get it started. Flying and big destructive battles cost major moolah and she doesn't have the name recognition to warrant the necessary investment.

That too

I agree, but I honestly don't think she's a good character for a solo movie either. Now if it were Wonder Woman, Elektra, Black Widow, etc. this is how it should be.

Exactly

How come you consider those heroines good for solo movies but not Miss Marvel?

That has more to do with quality of the films then the lead characters gender.

Audiences never had a problem with Beatrix Kiddo and Ellen Ripley being women.

That was the same thing Blade dealt with and he did fine.

A solo movie could fix that. Carol is more interesting then just being the woman Rogue stole the memories and powers from.
