Is there any chance Superman could exist and not have his secret found out in todays world? WIth all of the high tech equipment we have, cameras everywhere watching us, staellites watching the world at all times, could he pull it off??? And how would he be treated? Imagine the criticism if he didnt stop EVERY crime, or put out every fire, or stop every disaster. The media would have a field day with it. Thoughts?

Well.....

I would say if the comic stuff is adhered to then yes....Superman could exist. Pictures and what not wouldn't be a problem since he moves so fast. He would always appear as a blur. However, this is a comic thing, and not always followed. In LnC, famously, he could be photographed. In the comics, it's not always that easy, but then again....Jimmy did get that wedding ring shot! In Smallville....well...lets not go there.

Point is...Superman could avoid the obstacles of modern time if he had to...because...well...he's Superman!

Again, this is a super being capable of all sorts of things, so he could virtually do anything if he was actively trying to do so.

Now to the actual real world logistics....ummmm....well....barring that Superman was introduced like he was in post-crisis. I would say that any being capable of defying gravity is a threat to national security....especially if he isn't American

:bh:

Imagine if he did exist, someone would eventually try to get their hands on that kryptonite that was discovered in Russia? I believe, so they could take him down. He would have a threat.

If someone like that existed for real, you can bet that several goverments of the world would try everything in their power to try and capture him to either,

A) control him

or B) learn the secret of his power.

Not that it would do them any good to try though.

Asking whether a superhero could exist in real life is just a bad idea, IMO. These are fantasy figures. This is why I think that Chris Nolan is way too focused on realism in his Batman movies.
