People expections will probably be a lot lower for number 3 there will less pressure on the producers and that may result in an epic film.

I don't think there is any blessing in disguise in mixed reviews. I suppose the only blessing in disguise I can think of it forced S6 to come out before ASM3. Having the S6 in ASM3 to spin off into a solo movie would have been an absolutely disaster and possible franchise killer. This way they test the reaction of S6 and if it doesn't work out ou make your excuses and push ASM3 in a totally different direction. SOMEONE at Sony saw sense, proving they aren 'all' stupid.

Marc went up to Avi for TASM 2 & TASM3 like this:

Avi said: I got an idea of what we can pitch to the executives at Sony.

Sony Board Meeting:

Avi: Her'es a plan I have. For TASM2 we make it as ****** as possible. We make it the worse Spidey film ever. Because when you do TASM3, fans expectations will be so low that we don't have to try as hard to top it and it will be easy to top.

Sony Executives: GENIUS MAN THAT'S GOLD!!!!

Me reaction to this and your idea:

I think people didn't understand my point sometimes when a film is so epic it's hard to top which normally leaves fans disappointed by its sequel because their expections were high from the last movie

I don't think you have to top the movie before has long has the movie is still consider good. Dark knight rises wasn't consider has good has dark knight but it was still consider great or really good by most people. Where a movie like sm2 to sm3 the there'd one was consider way way worse then the 1 before. Tory story 2 I don't know if it was consider better then the first 1 but ether way it was consider great all 3 of them. That is why tory story is consider so good because all 3 are consider great. Same thing with the dark knight trilogy where most trilogy's have a movie out of the 3 that is consider much worse. Like terminater 3 or sm 3 or jaws 3 the list goes on and on.

The only blessing would have been if this film was great.

When I first read your title I was thinking "yeah, he's got a point"

But then you lost me at the whole "tank the 2nd so the third is well recieved thing"

It's a blessing in disguise if we get a better movie as a result, but as Oscorp said, better to have two good movies

I think in this case Sony should strive to have something that's superior to TASM2. If it has lukewarm reviews again, I don't see it helping Sony.

The mixed response is probably a good thing. Sony and the producers are reconsidering ****, so that's good.

While no I agree that sony should want something superior that is not what I mean. What I was saying is that I don't think a movie has to surpass the movie before to not dissapot people. So what I mean is had ASM2 been consider great I don't think asm3 would have to surpass asm2 to not dissapot people. Now had asm2 been consider great and then asm3 came out and people hated it or thought it was just ok then people would be dissapoted in asm3 so I think it is silly to say that sony would make asm2 the way they did just so asm3 could have a easyer time surpassing it like something said in this thread.

I am on neutral. I think they are trying out ASM2 this way so as to improve a better ASM3. Every individual movie has its particular impact and sometimes it is not necessary to make a movie that is suppose to surpass the earlier episode.

I think you alrease try to surpass it just doesn't alrease work out that way.

what did you mean by this?

I just mean that when you make sequels that I think you alrease want the next one to be better then the one before but that it doesn't alrease turn out like that where the next one is better.

Well that kind of goes without saying. I think actors, studios, directors, producers all want their next movie to be better and make more money than the original.

There are times when a film is **** it is a blessing in disguise.

For example:

Tim Burton fired from Batman 3

which makes

Joel Shoemaker take over the series

which means

Batman & Robin was released

which means

Batman films were dead for 8 years

which means

Christopher Nolan came in to reboot the Batman series with Batman Begins.

If Burton was on Batman 3, none of that could be possible.

One director that always said if he were to do a superhero movie, he'd want it to be Spider-Man... Guess who... James Cameron. Imagine the Spider-Man movie he'd give us...

Imagine if David Fincher did the Death of Gwen Stacy movie like he wanted to.

Instead we got Marc Webb's terrible adaption of the biggest death in comics.

I love Aliens, Terminator 2 and True Lies.

But after Titanic and Avatar, I don't really feel Cameron had the "strongest" stories and got by on spectacular effects and good acting.

Hey maybe that'll work for Spider-Man.

I don't remember the story to Avatar at all but visually it was stunning.
