This brick-looking device is supposedly the PSP2. I honestly think it is just another mock-up produced by some bored graphic designer out there. This mock-up comes with some information: apparently the PSP2 is codenamed Cobalt (yes, like a less-than-stellar Chevy vehicle) and has a fairly decent spec list.
• All Metal & Ruggedized Rubber Build
• 200% Brighter Screen
• Dual Analog Controllers
• Visual Battery Display
• 8GB Flash Drive
• Wifi (a,b,g)
• Bluetooth V.2 (A2DP, AVRCP)
• Firmware 4.07
I'll go ahead and call BS on this, but maybe there could be some validity to the spec list.

It looks much better than PSP1. Although just a rumor, I found this to be interesting news, of course.

i don't like the shape of it as much, but two analog sticks are better than one.

analogs are in a wierd place, they should be at the bottom

Even though I have a PSP, im defintely not picking this one up.

it doesn't make sense because the buttons are located on the bottom. THe psp is already hard to hold when playing, so this new *fake* design looks even more uncomfortable

the analog sticks are definitely in the wrong spot

That is pretty obvious photoshop work and i doubt the real thing (when it comes) will look like that.

That's why it says RUMOR at the bottom.

:whatever:

"There is no PSP2" says Sony
Friday 19-Jan-2007 9:53 AM Reports of new version of the handheld in the pipeline just a cheeky rumour
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has shot down alleged 'leaked' information on a PSP2, saying flatly "There is no PSP2".

Reports hitting the internet yesterday featured a supposed image of a new version of the handheld, saying the codename for the machine is Cobalt.

Reports said it featured the likes of dual analogue thumbsticks, an improved display, an 8Gb flash drive, wifi and Bluetooth support and an in-built camera that lets users stream live video to PS3 over wifi. But it's all just wishful thinking, it seems.

Who's been having fun with Photoshop in their bedroom then?

I still think they're at least planning an upgraded PSP.

Nvidia recently got another contract from Sony and the wording was suggestive of a handheld. They've (Nvidia) also recently hired E-ram engineers for a Sony product. Chances are that a PSP2 is in the works but not for a while yet. PSP hardware sells decently everywhere and Sony makes money on PSP hardware, it's software that isn't doing as well, but even without PSP owners buying many games, PSP sales remain healthy, it's kind of weird.
