Is there any way this can be organized and have an effect? This book sucks. It just does. I reached the last straw when I went back and realized that there are 5 gay jokes about the Pied Piper in his 4 pages of screentime. Or pagetime. Whatever. 5 in 4 pages!!!!

The capper is when Double Down calls him a "twink" . Now, I'm not familiar with this stuff (I swear) but for those of you who may not know, a "twink" is a slang term in gay porn for guys who are of age, but look under 18 so as to fulfill sick bastard fantasies about teenage boys.

Is this really appropriate for what is supposed to be DC's flagship book right now? I'm no prude, but this isn't Vertigo. So I went back and counted, and found about 72 pages involving Piper and Trickster together (give or take a couple). Care to guess how many gay jokes or references to Piper being gay there are? FOURTEEN.

Fourteen gay jokes/references in 18 issues in which Piper appears. We get it. The Pied Piper is gay. How many "hilarious" comments about prom dresses and male strippers do we really need? I'm sorry, but Countdown has officially turned the corner for me from being just a crappy comic book to downright offensive.

The only way to make an impact is to let DC know how terrible this is. I'm personally writing DC an email and a letter every week until I get a response, and I encourage others to do likewise. I am also going to go on the IGN and Newsarama boards and post a similar rant telling people to stop buying Countdown, even if it is just for one week.

That is the only way really, for the sales to be hit. So I'm not buying Countdown anymore, and hopefully others will too.

Oh noes they're syaing he's gay lets not buy the book!

How about we stop buying the book because it's so completely terrible compared to 52

I propose a boycott of Vic Von Doom and everything he represents.

Wait That Means Youre Like Pied Piper!

How about everyone boycotts this thread. Even if just for one week. This thread is a moral outrage. Children are reading this.

Well, before everyone boycotts the thread, I'd like to say one thing:

that's a ridiculous reason to boycott. Of course there's gonna be gay slang and such at Piper's expense. He's gay. Most, if not all, of the gay terms are from villains... of course they're gonna say such things, they're villains... I mean, I don't even doubt that some heroes would say the same...

Talk about ******ed threads! Geez, people are SOO policitically correct! People say bad things on the street all the time but yet no one boycotts them or make it their vendetta to silence them. But yet, dude says something that is obviously being said by a lot of people, now let's get this dude and make him suffer for saying. Give me a break!

Really? The excessive gay jokes are why you want to boycott Countdown? That's the last straw? Not the uninteresting antagonists, inability for the book to tell an entire story without expecting you to buy other DC books, poor excuses for Monitors, poor characterization and ignoring of past continuity for characters like Jimmy Olsen, or horrible pacing? Those things you're fine with, but the gay jokes are going too far? Even ignoring the sad attempts at humor this book makes, I'd sooner read a Batwoman/Question comic.

Would I have to actually buy a copy of Countdown in order to then stop buying it and say I was boycotting, or is the not-buying-Countdown I was already doing sufficient?

It's the Trickster, a reputed villain, hurling these terms around. Get a grip.

That's not what that means.

It's more like the lack of knowledge of gay terms. Or the assumed knowledge. What I'm trying to get at, is that most people that claim to know, actually do not know.

Damn posers trying to be cool with fake knowledge of gay porn terms.

And knowing is half the battle.

Probably not. People like us get left left out of the best parties. :down

This thread is exceptionally funny because everyone who's buying the book knows for damn sure they're gonna keep buying it. :oldrazz:

But it's not too late to boycott this thread for it's obscene use of homosexuality.
