1- Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas
2- Maneater - Hall & Oates
3- Strut - Sheena Easton
4- Jive Talkin - Bee Gees
5- Taking It All Too Hard - Genesis
6- No Reply At All - Genesis
7- Pressure - Billy Joel
8- Another One Bites the Dust - Queen
9- You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
10-Beat It - Michael Jackson

Add: the opening riff from Money For Nothing - Dire Straits

Plus more Marvin Gaye. Both Marvel films this year ended on a Marvin song. Can't break that good karma string...

There's gotta be a Queen song in there. "Another One Bites the Dust" is a good shout, though my top pick would possibly be "Don't Stop Me Now."

Props for the two somewhat obscure Genesis songs.

I like the list, but the first tape was pretty much all 70's songs, why would the 2nd tape be 80's?

Yup - But it'd be funny if the rest of the Guardians make Quill an Awesome Mix tape for his birthday and get the decade wrong :D

Imagine when the Avengers and the Guardians inevitably meet and after their adventure either Tony or Black Widow gives Quill Awesome Mix Vol 3 or 4. Quill puts it in, hits play and the first lyrics we hear are "Yooo I tell you what I want, what I really, really want..." or "An old man turned ninety-eight, he won the lottery and died the next day..."

I'd like to see what would happen if Peter Quill ever returned to Earth and was exposed to modern day music, would someone try to save him from being about to or console him after hearing Justin Bieber for the first time?

As for what I'd add to the awesome mix:

Bon Jovi-Livin' on a Prayer
Bon Jovi-You Give Love A Bad Name
Simple Minds-Don't You Forget About Me

That one was one of the first to come to mind for me as well.

The first mix was 60's-70's, since it was supposed to be the stuff Peter's mom grew up with, and the first song on Mix 2 ("Ain't No Mountain...") followed suit, so sticking with that theme:

1. "Don't Stop Me Now" - Queen
2. "Free Ride" - Edgar Winter Group
2. "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" - The Temptations
3. "Love Will Keep Us Together" - Captain and Tennille
4. "Proud Mary" - the Ike & Tina Turner version
5. "Starman" - David Bowie
6. "Across the Universe" - The Beatles
7. "Walk on By" - Dionne Warwick
8. "Because the Night" - Patti Smith
9. "Jungleland" - Bruce Springsteen
10. "Higher Ground" - Stevie Wonder
11. "Good Times Bad Times" - Led Zeppelin
12. "Surrender" - Cheap Trick
13. "Sympathy for the Devil" - The Rolling Stones
14. "You Keep Me Hangin' On" or "You Can't Hurry Love" - The Supremes

Yeah, I had a hard time narrowing it down to CD length, forget cassette length, lol, so let's just pretend this was one of those cassette tapes that held 90 minutes of music (they existed!).

Also, assuming the mixtape for Guardians 2 would remain 60's and 70's music, if the next time we see the Guardians is in teaming up with the Avengers in TA3...well then one of the Avengers (it would be Tony, let's be real) could make Peter a new mix of music from Earth he's missed while he was gone (mainly 80's-90's) as sort of a parting gift to be the soundtrack for Guardians 3. :D

Walk This Way - Run DMC

Or He could give him an iPod-like device with hundreds (if not thousands) of songs. That wouldn't be so hard :oldrazz:

I think it's reasonable to assume Peter would've been into 80's music,so I'd love to hear some Duran Duran,Huey Lewis & the News and of course,Michael Jackson. But,this is supposed to be more music from his mom's era,so with that in mind.....

1. Worst that could happen- Brooklyn Bridge
2. Blue Eyes -Elton John
3. Fantasy- Earth Wind & Fire
4. Taxi-Harry Chapin
5. Stop! The love you save may be your own-Jackson 5
6. Superstar- The Carpenters (yeah,it was already in Ghost Rider, what about it?!?)
7. Two out of three ain't bad - Meatloaf
8. Don't stop me now-Queen (I admit, this one is much too good to pass up!)
9. 25 Miles -Edwin Starr
10. Who Loves you-Frankie Vali & the 4 Seasons
11.Come sail away-Styx
12 Livin' thing -ELO

Some Rainbow songs
Stargazer
Gates of Babylon
Man on the silver mountain
Sixteenth century greensleeves
Those were some that could be on his mix. These are some he would have to make contact with earth again to find.

Usually though when I read gotg or any cosmic comics I listen to
Brocas Helm
Time of the dark
Drink the blood of the priest

These 2 brocas helm albums
Defender of the crown and Into battle

Halfway to gone
Escape from earth
That song gets me so pumped

but quill got a new tape from his mom, he has to listen to it.

the start was 1988, so i'd assume he'd have plenty of time to know 80s music

I want to hear more 70's/80's classic one-hit wonders, less of mainstream or more popular bands.

I'm not very familiar with pop music (regardless of decade) so I'll list one of the few pieces from the early 80's that I can think of off the top of my head... Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)?

The Scorpions song 'The Zoo' I wouldn't mind hearing on it.

Ok, I'll give it a spin...

Emotion - Samantha Sang (feat. the Bee Gees)
Magnet and Steel - Walter Egan (feat. Stevie Nicks)
Sky High - Jigsaw
Good Girls Don't - The Knack
Macho Man - The Village People (Drax's Theme!)
Ballroom Blitz - Sweet
Life is a Rock - Reunion (ending credits)
Rock Me Gently - Andy Kim
One Tin Soldier - Coven (Thanos' Theme)
The Road to Shamballa - Three Dog Night
Take It to the Limit - The Eagles
Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band - Meco (couldn't resist!)

Hmmm, based on the Kitsch quality of the music in the first one, it might be something like this

Jet Airliner- Steve Miller Band
I Saw The Light - Todd Rundgren
Strange Magic-ELO
Bang a Gong- Supertramp
More Than a Woman- The Bee Gees
Baby Let's Pretend- The Rasberries
No Matter What- Badfinger
Lets Get it On - Marvin Gaye
Caught Up in You- 38 Special
Someday we'll be together-The Supremes
Drive-The Cars
