Romano Dias knew he was in trouble immediately after consuming a large quantity of what he believed to be a fruit-flavored health drink. He was right to worry: The liquid in his glass turned out to be pure crystal meth.
According to authorities in Cambridgeshire, the 55-year-old father from Huntingdon had been handed the glass by his daughter Katee, though it's unclear how he came to believe it was health food.
Shortly after imbibing the fluid, Dias began to feel a burning sensation in his throat and reportedly told his family, "I am in trouble here. I am dying, I am dead."
He was indeed pronounced dead a short time later.
Detectives investigating the case say a bottle containing some £34,000 ($54430) of meth was delivered to Katee Dias' London home some time ago addressed to a different person, and she took it in believing someone may be by to collect it.
Six months later she opened the package, and, for reasons that remain uncertain, the contents of the bottle were eventually served to her father.
Speaking at the inquest, Detective Inspector Ian Simmons said crystal meth was a drug rarely encountered on the street of Cambridgeshire, and he believes the bottle was "destined for a dealer" as "part of a plan to bring Class A drugs into the UK."
Dias's death was ultimately ruled an accident.

This is absolutely crazy

Heard this driving to work today, Jesus man.........

How do you rule someone consuming $54,000 in meth "accidental"? It sounds like the daughter poisoned him by telling him it was a health drink.

There must be more to the story we're not getting because I can't see how you can conclude anything else with just those details alone.

where'd she get the health drink part of it? was it written somewhere on the package? and wouldn't it smell like meth?

I'm not sure what meth smells like so I don't know if it has an awful stench about it or if it is more vaguely something else. All I know is that **** will kill you if you inhale enough of it which is why you always see guys making it wearing masks.

"Ya so uh dad, nobody ever came by to pick up this mysterious package for 6 months. I'm pretty sure it's a health drink, why don't you down a big glass of it and tell me how you feel?"

Is there any other way that conversation went down?

Even assuming it was a health drink, why wait 6 months to drink it?

Was it disguised as a health drink bottle or something?

The most surprising part of all of this is the fact that his death was ruled an accident. Something is fishy with that daughter, at least with how vague this article leaves it.

This story is in desperate need of more details before we can even have an intelligent conversation about what the hell happened here.

And wow, being hopped up on NyQuil makes it hard to type. It took me like 5 minutes to type this right.

Dug a little deeper;

DRUG dealers have claimed the life of an innocent man who swallowed a massive dose of the Class A drug crystal meth, thinking it was a health drink.
Romano Dias, 55, had been given a bottle of what appeared to be a fruit-based drink as a treat by his daughter Katee, who had found it in a package delivered to her home, an inquest was told.
He was taken ill immediately after drinking half a glass of the liquid and died shortly afterwards.
Analysis by police showed that the bottle did not contain the drink on the label but £34,000 of pure methamphetamine – otherwise known as crystal meth – a drug rarely found on the streets of Cambridgeshire.

So it was disguised as a health drink.

Still doesn't explain why you would open a package with someone elses name on it, that was delivered months ago and drink it

From what I've read from both of those articles, goodness gracious. Where are the street smarts? She shouldn't have opened the package first of all. Even if it was in a Coca Cola bottle, you leave that s*** around for six months and then decide to serve it to your daddy? How do people lack common sense?

Maybe I'm just an ass****.

:o

i'm suprised that the dealers didn't come looking for it.

Me too. You just know that somebody died for that £34,000 ($54430). Somebody had to be blamed.

I'll bet ya dollars to donuts it was purchased on the Silk Road with bitcoins before it got shut down. Somebody was trying to start an empire

I feel so sorry for this guy.

He felt so bad he knew he was going to be dead seconds later.

What a terrifying feeling/realization.

The daughter then said: "Stay out of my territory."

The wording he said is quite chilling. I'd rather not know death is about to hit me. :(

Sometimes, you just don't make a joke about things. This is one of those times I reckon.
