WEIRD FLORIDA: Dad Has Teen Daughter Arrested for Punching Him

CRESTVIEW | A 16-year-old Florida girl who hit her father when he tried to spank her has been charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office report says the father told a deputy that he was attempting to spank the girl when she turned around and struck him in the face with her fist.

The report said she tried to hit him several more times before leaving with friends.

Both father and daughter said the argument started over an item that had been broken. The girl said he slapped her face when she cursed at him.

She acknowledged that when he went to spank her, she punched him.

OK, that's just farked up. What parent spanks a 16 yr old? He never heard of grounding the teen or taking her cellphone or ipod or pc for a time?

I don't think an outside observer could make a good judgment on this case based on the article alone. The father could be a control freak or even abusive and the daughter finally lashed out. Conversely, the daughter could be a real behavior problem and the Dad felt he had no alternative but to involve the police as opposed to he and his daugther getting into an actual fight.

I'm going to leave this one alone. Not enough back story.

I'm all for discipline, but this guy sounds like a tosser. You don't try to spank a 16 year old for being naughty. If my dad tried to spank me when i was 16 i would of chinned him aswell, but he wouldn't get me arrested, that's just pathetic. Who gets their own child arrested for hitting them back?
