Why would The Saudis want to lose money?

There are very few of their ventures that actually are profitable, in fact most lose eye watering amounts.. they don't care as they've a near bottomless pit of cash & some of these expenditures they see as extremely long term investments that can eventually help clean up the countries image, increase tourism, attract outside investors etc etc.

I assume its because Snyder was making a movie for them or something, so those deluded fanboys made that connection. Same reason they thought Netflix was going to bring back the Snyderverse, because Snyder made Rebel Moon for them.

Right but there is value in it. Buying sports teams and leagues may lose money but the influence and white washing normalizes them which is worth its weight in gold.

If the Saudis help buy WB they arent doing it to lose money. They need films to be released and be viewed or nothing is gained. The network gives them more access (and a place to showcase their stuff) but they arent going to court weak fanbases in the hopes it helps their image. Sorry they dont need to do that the Snydercult brings them no real eyes they don't already have via golf, soccer, comedy, podcasts, fascist politics, a complicit media landscape, friendship/investment with Tech Edgelords and lord knows what else.

Hell...they likely have all of us already we just dont know it.

They aren't doing it to make money either. That's the point. If the right person has their ear, anything happens. It's why it's called "F you money".

It's funny you bring up golf, because no one watches that tour. It's brought them no real eyes. No one watched the comedy special over here. They do that stuff to establish power. To force others to bend to their will.

There are so many assets & licenses that fall under WB's umbrella, if they manage to either buy or partially buy WB it will give them access & control over various forms of media that are seen in nearly every corner of the globe.

They don't care about the money, these investments are all about changing the perception & reputation of the country as a whole, which in turn they believe will attract more people & investors to their country long term.

I don't know why you'd think they wouldn't or couldn't court fanbases to help soften or dilute their image when they already have with varying success.

Saudis bought SNK, and revived Fatal Fury. A niche game in the fighting game genre. And then, promptly killed any enthusiasm for the revival by adding in one of the prince's personal DJ and favorite soccer player, who is a rapist. Make no mistake, princes will be making requests.

Look I really dislike Netflix for a lot of reasons...but if people really believe stuff like that (not you Kane but the people crashing out all over the place) they have zero understanding of how things work.

This is going to exasperate fundamental issues with theaters but no way they abandon the revenue. Blockbusters and award bait will get their normal schedule. The rest will be lucky to. Franchises on streaming are rather worthless (Netflix aint adding viewers en masse at this point everyone has it) films like Man of Tomorrow is way more valuable making hundreds of millions in the theater and then moving it over. The Pandemic proved that.

150%! I think it stinks and will harm the industry in ways we cant even imagine. Stuff like this is shortsighted and screws the creatives and consumers. Hollywood is struggling as is and this will make it way worse. (No matter who bought WB it would be bad but Netflix...yuck)

Back to Man of Tomorrow though, the Snydercult now is sure Netflix is firing James Gunn and bring back the Snyderverse! It amazes me sometimes how stupid and out of touch people are.

(AEW fans are crashing out too since WWE is on Netflix...its bananas)
