Ant-Man Dammit, Janet! The official Wasp thread

The fact that they've already talked about Rashida Jones' "chemistry" with some of the cast immediately brings to mind her "chemistry" with Paul Rudd. Plus, Hollywood will be Hollywood, so love stories are a given. That's why I think Rudd and Rashida (or whoever gets the "female lead") will be paired up.

I know why you think that. but the people mentioning chemistry are the fans and non-marvel sources explaining why it'd be a good idea to cast her. I'm just not seeing it; Scott and Jan as a couple. they might become partners. but I don't think romance will be part of it.

I was only meaning that any story they did with Pym and Jan together, their partnership, their dating, even their marriage and divorce, could be altered slightly to be Lang and Jan. If the fans are worried that some of their favorite stories would not get used because the relationship between Pym and Jan was changed. With Pym being much older in the films now we would loose many of those stories anyway unless they did a prequel series of films.
So why not alter things the way they altered the Avengers, or other aspects of the comics while still keeping the core similar. Maybe Jan and Lang could be partners. Maybe she was Wasp before Lang became Ant Man. Just mean that changes like this wouldn't bug me.

yes, of course. and you're probably right. i'm just creating wild theories for fun. like Jan will be a lesbian, in this one. and she'll aid Scott in repairing his marriage.

I'd be fine with any of this. I wouldn't mind her being gay or any of your ideas so far. I agree it would be nice to have her be a more qualified agent then him. And nice not to have them date at first. Make them partners. But i meant maybe down the line they could have them get together in a more natural way. Like they work together all this time and grow closer. But that wouldn't be till maybe the 2nd or 3rd film. Just if they wanted to use some of the ideas from the comics, Lang could easily slip into the Pym role (minus the abuse part).

If the casting rumors are true, then they seem to be casting very much against a gender-switch Tony Stark type: Rashida Jones, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jessica Chastain? All good-girl types.

that much is true. but Chastain didn't play a good girl in 'Mama.' of course she didn't play a gender-swapped Tony Stark, either. and there's also that early early rumor of the Desperate Housewives lady meeting with Marvel.

I will say this… As I posted in the Avengers thread earlier, Lilly is great in press interviews and on the red carpet; promotion for this movie should be hella fun if she's cast.

That's about the only positive thing I can say for the moment LOL!

I'm warming up to this rumor. she was abrasive on 'Lost.' but this is a much different role. and one plus is that she's an athletic individual; outside of acting. she might give us a more bad@## version of Janet; able to hold her own prior to getting superpowers.

i think they should take turns. like it'd clearly be Rashida Jones during stunts or romantic scenes. but then they'd cut back to Lilly.

Even though I still prefer my scenario of an older Wasp, Freckles would be perfect for the role if they went with someone somewhat closer to Rudd's age.

Then again, her look is so versatile, she can play almost any female comic character and it would work.

my guess is that she already has the potential much like Peter Parker does in the Spider-man reboot. i don't know that they want to go the route of Douglas' Pym experimenting on her when she was little, though. maybe she has gene damage from her father's continued exposure to pym particles or something. anyways, i think Pym's going to have to actively jumpstart her wasp-ness.

Would be very happy for Evangeline if she does get the role. Although it will probably be more of a supporting character role, I would still see the movie as though she was the major star of the movie.
