Stand-Alone Movies Damon Lindelof developing a Star Wars film; Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy to direct

Another one for the pile of quietly cancelled Star Wars movies in a few years.

 

Yeah, this isn’t gonna happen. Damon’s vision will be neutered and the director will leave due to “creative differences”.

 

Oof, no. Don't need a Lindelof written anything. Let's skip straight to this being shelved.

 

So after a long list of filmmakers who became extremely divisive after they were announced to make a Star Wars film, they decided to choose someone who already was.

Yeah but Trevorrow was removed and Abrams was brought back months before The Last Jedi came out.

 

I give it a year or two until this film gets canned

 

As is, Star Wars has found great success on TV. I'd be surprised if we get another Star Wars movie in the next few years. I'm sure we will at some point, but with all the shows greenlit on Disney+, I see Disney focusing there. So yeah, Lindelof can soon join Rian Johnson, Patty Jenkins, and other directors I'm forgetting who had a Star Wars project that was either axed or won't happen.

 

Give Lindelof a TV project instead. That medium is where his talents are.
