Sci-Fi Dan Trachtenberg to direct Predator film ‘Badlands’

Yeah I think I would rank them:

1. Killer of Killers
2. Prey
3. Predator
4. Predators
5. Predator 2
6. The Predator

Never saw any of the AVP dreck because it all just looked awful in the trailers
Never have you wanted to ship a woman with a Predator until AVP. :o

The Predator is my pick for worst movie I ever watched in a movie theater. Single handedly made me uninterested in watching Shane Black's work beyond stuff I have already seen
If there's anything I learned from The Predator and Iron Man 3 it's that Shane Black should stick to more grounded stories. And I say that as someone who generally likes Iron Man 3.

You didn't like that autism is a secret weapon for being a Predator (I can't remember the movie) or an Englishman cosplaying as Chinese? :o

I’ll still watch THE Predator over Predators cause there’s some entertainment in how bad it is. Predators is like a fan film in how bland and drab it is. Certainly the most forgettable Predator film.

I haven't watched Predators in full since it was in theaters but looking at that cast list now it's very much a "Wait, HE was in that?!" type of movie. Specifically Walton Goggins and Mahershala Ali.
Predators was one well cast male lead away from being proper good imo. Brody is so out of place it hurts the whole movie. But overall, a rather good time imo.

Love the first two Predator films but Prey and Killer of Killers definitely come close. I also I have no interest in ever revisiting The Predator even if you paid me too.

2. Prey
3. Predator 2
4. Predators
5. Killer of Killers
6. AVP
7. AVP: Requiem
8. The Predator

Predator and Prey are the pinnacle of what this franchise can achieve, Predator 2, Predators and Killer of Killers are good additions to the cannon with some great moments and very re-watchable just with some flaws here and there. The rest are really nothing great or just flat out awful. I'm thinking/hoping Badlands will be more in the middle to the top range. Looking forward to it now though as hype ramps up a bit as we get closer to launch.

For me it's sort of like 4 tiers. The original is untouchable, a classic and I don't see them ever topping it. Prime Arnie, prime McTiernan, great 80s action and scifi/horror combined. Just a classic. I think Predator 2, Prey and Predators are all great and solid sequels that I would happily rewatch every now and then. They all offer something new to the franchise and I enjoy them all for different reasons.

Just below that tier I have Killer of Killers and AvP that I both think are solid and enjoyable. Maybe not my first watches if I wanted a Predator fix, but movies that if I stumbled onto them playing on a TV or something I would probably stay and watch. The bad tier is the bottom one, Requiem has a few interesting things in it but you need to crank up the brightness settings to see what is going on. It's not particularly good. The Predator with Shane Black returning was a movie I was really hyped for and somehow managed to be worse.

I hardly remember anything from the AVP films hence I wont put them here, and I haven't dared to watch The Predator yet (due to reviews and general comments). Other than that, my rankings would look like most here.

1. Predator

2. Prey

3. Predator 2

4. Predators

5. Killer of Killers

I'm happy to see some love for Predator 2, I've always felt it's one of those underrated sequels that gets unfair hate.

A couple of things I appreciate about it:

Changing the setting to the city. It would have been easy to do a jungle or a remote place again but they changed things up. Getting Danny Glover as a lead who brings a different vibe to Arnie rather than just getting a 'Arnie clone'. The new things they introduce as part of the Predator arsenal are genuinely cool and awesome. The blade, the spear, the net. A lot of sequels would get those elements wrong and add unnecessary things but these are actually cool additions. The scene in the slaughterhouse when they disguise their heat signatures and the predator has another 'frequency' to use to spot them. That's awesome!

On a sidenote I think Predator 2 might just be the sweatiest movie ever. Everyone looks like they're out of a sauna, pretty sure Bill Paxton has big sweat stains in his arm pits in every scene he is in.

I would watch Predators 1000 times a row without a bathroom break before ever watching The Predator again

I feel like Predators has a good premise and is fairly solid until the (completely obvious) “twist” with Topher happens. “I’m just like youuuuu!” He was so laughably bad in that scene and his character just turns into a moron.

Predator 2 is one of those odd films that gets better each viewing, it starts out a bit goofy and silly but as the plot develops and main characters start getting offed it builds to the great finale and Danny Glover throughout acts as a solid anchor through some of the silly bits. Plus the complete change of setting makes it far more interesting than rehashing the "jungle" theme of the first. The lore and world building is also well done.

There is a kernal of a movie I want to see in The Predator. Really just based on one action sequence. That is the nicest thing I will say about that movie.

New movie has me hankering to get back into some Hunting Grounds.
The original idea, before the massive changes, seemed really sold to me. The OG predators teaming up with humanity to take on the uber Predator had a lot of potential. I'm curious why it got trashed.

The first half of the film is decent. Not great, but it works. The second half is atrocious, which feels where the vast majority of changes happened.
