Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls
is coming to PlayStation 4 both physically and digitally in summer 2017 in North America and Europe, NIS America announced.

(Update: Spike Chunsoft will also release a PC version via Steam.)
Originally released for PS Vita in 2015, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is a spin-off action-adventure game that connects Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.

A $54.99 limited edition, available via the NIS America Online Store, includes a copy of the game, collector’s box, 32-page hardcover art book, 15-track single-disc original soundtrack with jewel case, Warriors of Hope 4.5-inch diameter tie clip, Warriors of Hope pin, Kurokuma tie, and Kurokuma eyepatch.

Here’s an overview of the game, via NIS America:
About
Komaru Naegi, little sister to Makoto Naegi, has been imprisoned inside a mysterious apartment for over a year. One day, she is rescued by Byakuya Togami of Future Foundation, but the rescue is derailed by a sudden attack of hundreds of Monokumas. Komaru soon discovers that the city has been taken over by a group of children calling themselves the Warriors of Hope. Their leader, Monaca, declares that the city will be the site of a “children’s paradise,” and to accomplish this, all the adults will be exterminated. Komaru teams up with Toko Fukawa to try to survive the rampaging Monokumas, escape the crafty Monokuma Kids, and uncover the secrets of the city.
Key Features

 • Third Person Shooter Action Sequences: Use Future Foundation’s Hacking Gun to have a fighting chance against the hordes of Monokumas as you traverse Towa City.
 • Riddles and Puzzles: The Monokuma Kids will challenge more than just your trigger finger; you’ll need your smarts to survive as well. There’s a lot to discover in the city, with a number of familiar faces and mysteries to unravel!

Danganronpa V3 details Korekiyo, Tenko, Kirumi, Maki, and Monofunny; third character trailer

The latest participants in the killing game detailed.

Spike Chunsoft has released new information and a trailer for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony detailing the next set of characters: Korekiyo Shinguuji, Tenko Chabashira, Kirumi Toujo, Maki Harukawa, and Monofunny.

Get the information below.
■ Characters

Korekiyo Shinguuji (voiced by Kenichi Suzumura) – Ultimate Anthropologist

Danganronpa-V3_12-05-16_001.jpg

A boy who has experience visiting various places for the sake of his anthropology research. Having the opinion that “there is infinite beauty in humans” from such experience, he wonders what kind of human beauty can be seen under confined, difficult situations, and thus observes the other students with great interest. He has a weird appearance and fundamental sense of values not aligned with that of ordinary people. He is calm and collected, but also smart.

Tenko Chabashira (voiced by Sora Tokui) – Ultimate Aikido Master

Danganronpa-V3_12-05-16_002.jpg

A girl with big reactions and clear with her emotions, who somehow invented the Aikido style of “Neo Aikido” together with her master. She is a severe man-hater, referring to them as “男死” (danshi – the kanji for “male” next to the kanji for “death”) instead of “男子” (danshi – the proper spelling of “boy,” which is the kanji for “man” next to the kanji for “child”). When girls praise the way she looks, she is humorously humble, but when boys praise her, her expression immediately dies. Beyond simply disliking men, she is conditionally reflexed to throw them when it seems like she is going to be touched by one. She has a habit of letting out a loud voice, turning off her brain’s limiter, and getting fired up, so she can be very noisy.

Kirumi Toujo (voiced by Kikuko Inoue) – Ultimate Maid

Danganronpa-V3_12-05-16_003.jpg
A clear-headed and athletic super high school student. While working part-time as a maid, she built up a reputation of completing any request with an overly perfect work demeanor. In the past, she has been chosen to be the body guard for the leaders of many nations. However, even she could not accept the request to destroy the nation. Her creed as a maid is “selfless devotion.” Even when she is confined in the school, her consciousness of working for others does not change, as she voluntarily does chores for the students such as preparing meals and sleeping. She is an elegant, composed, and mature girl.

Maki Harukawa (voiced by Maaya Sakamoto) – Ultimate Caregiver

Danganronpa-V3_12-05-16_004.jpg

A girl who did not choose the path of caregiver on her own. She grew up in an orphanage and was made to help, and as a result was recognized as the “Super High School Level Caregiver.” She is not good at taking care of others or being sociable, and while she doesn’t even care for children, she is somehow liked by them. She has pretty features, but is unsociable and her dislike of people makes her uncooperative. While she doesn’t speak much, she speaks clearly when she does. She is not the type to actively do things on her own, but holds herself together.
Monofunny (voiced by Koichi Yamadera) – Monokumas
image: http://gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Danganronpa-V3_12-05-16_005.jpg
Danganronpa-V3_12-05-16_005.jpg
The lone female of the Monokumas. She is a kind-hearted character who dislikes the grotesque. When a falling out occurs among the Monokumas, she is the one who tries to calm things down, but eventually joins them. She has a sweet side to her, suggesting they make the killing game a rock, paper, scissors tournament, and randomly falls asleep.
Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is due out for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan on January 12, and in North America and Europe in 2017.

Danganronpa V3 Introduces Its First Four Ultimates. March 30, 2017 . 11:00am

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony introduces Kaede Akamatsu, Rantaro Amami, Miu Iruma, and Kokichi Oma.

21 comments Read >

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is bringing players to a whole new school with 16 entirely new students trapped within. A whole new killing game is about to begin. Before class begins, members of the student body are being gradually introduced. Meet the Ultimate Pianist Kaede, Ultimate Inventor Miu, Ultimate Supreme Leader Kokichi, and Ultimate ??? Rantaro.

Here are NIS America’s official descriptions for each character.

Kaede Akamatsu: The Ultimate Pianist
Kaede has been playing the piano ever since she was a child, earning her the not-so-flattering nickname, "Piano Freak." After winning numerous trophies at piano competitions, she soon received the far more prestigious title of Ultimate Pianist. Kaede has a positive personality and puts all her effort toward achieving her goals. She feels a deep resentment toward Monokuma for forcing everyone to participate in his absurd killing game.

Rantaro Amami: The Ultimate ???
Though Rantaro can’t remember what his Ultimate talent is, he doesn’t let that get him down. In fact, he’s quite excited at the prospect of learning what his Ultimate talent actually is. Though he comes across as glib and laidback, Rantaro is the only one to remain calm and press Monokuma for information while the others panic. At times, his attitude suggests that he knows more about what’s happening than his classmates, which only heightens the air of mystery surrounding him.

Miu Iruma: The Ultimate Inventor
An inventor who is responsible for creating a wide variety of commercial products, starting with her famous "Eyedrop Contact Lenses." However, Miu believes that coasting through life is the best way to live it. As such, she considers her eyedrop invention a failure because she actually had to work to create them. Her arrogance is matched only by her penchant of vulgarity. Every time she opens her mouth, a stream of dirty jokes and innuendo comes rushing out. Strangely enough, she becomes submissive and docile whenever anyone gives her any pushback.

Kokichi Oma: The Ultimate Supreme Leader
A boy whose Ultimate talent is being the supreme leader of an evil secret organization that boasts a membership of over 10,000 people. However, there is no proof that such an organization actually exists. Even Shuichi, the Ultimate Detective, is unfamiliar with the identity of Kokichi’s organization. As a self-professed liar, Kokichi revels in blurring the lines that separate fact from fiction. He has a tendency to say whatever pops into his head, and is prone to theatrical outburst of crocodile tears. But don’t let this innocent smile fool you – as a supreme leader of evil, Kokichi feels no remorse over tormenting his classmates.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony will come to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in North America on September 26, 2017. It will arrive in Europe on September 29, 2017.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony ‘Ultimate Roll Call #2’ trailer

Published 4 mins ago. 0 comments.

Meet Korekiyo, Tenko, Kirumi, Maki, and Monophanie.
Danganronpa-V3_08-10-17.jpg
The second in NIS America’s series of “Ultimate Roll Call” trailers for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony introduces Korekiyo Shinguji, Tenko Chabashira, Kirumi Tojo, Maki Harukawa, and Monophanie.
Here are details about each character:

 • Korekiyo Shinguji (Ultimate Anthropologist) – Korekiyo has traveled around the world, studying many different cultures as part of his anthropological research. His travels have instilled in him an appreciation for the “beauty of humanity.” For this reason, he observes his classmates with great curiosity, eager to see what sort of beauty they will produce given their unique situation. Calm, collected and intelligent, Korekiyo’s mannerisms and appearance can nevertheless be quite unnerving to some. Even his ethics and morality may be a departure from what one might consider normal.
 • Tenko Chabashira (Ultimate Aikido Master) – Tenko is a practitioner of Neo-Aikido, a martial art that she created alongside her master by reimagining the style of traditional aikido. To say she merely dislikes men is an understatement. As an androphobe, Tenko refers to all men as “male degenerates.” Though compliments from a woman will make her heart aflutter, the same compliment from a man could result in him getting thrown across the room. Tenko does not hide her emotions well, and she has a tendency to overreact to situations in an exaggerated manner. She also has a habit of yelling at the top of her lungs. Though she claims it helps bolster her fighting spirit, her frequent shouting often strikes others as incredibly obnoxious.
 • Kirumi Tojo (Ultimate Maid) – A calm, dignified young woman of sound mind and peak physical fitness. Kirumi made a name for herself while working as a part-time maid, earning a reputation for fulfilling to perfection any request made of her. However, she refuses all requests made by corrupt individuals. As a maid, Kirumi embodies the philosophy of selfless devotion. Even while trapped in the Ultimate Academy, she continues to serve her classmates almost on instinct, such as by preparing meals and doing chores.
 • Maki Harukawa (Ultimate Child Caregiver) – Raised in an orphanage, Maki did not seek out the role of child caregiver but instead had the role thrust upon her. For this, she was recognized as the Ultimate Child Caregiver. But despite her title, Maki’s not particularly caring or friendly. And though children are fond of her, she personally can’t stand them. Despite her cute appearance, Maki is a hostile misanthrope of few words, and rarely cooperates with her classmates. Nevertheless, she is willing to take action when it suits her.
 • Monophanie (Monokumba Kub) – The only female member of the Monokubs. She is the kindest member of the group, and has a weak stomach for gore and violence. When the Monokubs squabble among themselves, Monophanie will try to smooth things over, only to end up joining the quarrel anyway. She can be cute and endearing at times, though. Meet K1-B0, Gonta, Shuichi, Tsumugi, and Monosuke.

Danganronpa-V3_09-07-17.jpg

The third in NIS America’s series of “Ultimate Roll Call” trailers for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony introduces K1-B0, Gonta Gokuhara, Shuichi Saihara, Tsumugi Shirogane, and Monosuke.
Here are details about each character:

 • K1-B0 (Ultimate Robot) – K1-B0—or “Keebo” as he is known colloquially—is a robot equipped with recording functions and a hyper-advanced artificial intelligence, allowing him to learn and mature like any other teenage human. Raised by his creator, Professor Idabashi, Keebo was allowed to enroll in high school alongside other humans. He was later recognized as an Ultimate due to his robotic nature. Keebo has a very earnest personality and conducts himself in a proper manner. However, he is very sensitive about the issue of “robophobia”—prejudice toward robots—and will not hesitate to call out any and all instances of anti-robot discrimination. Because he’s a robot, he has a tendency to overlook the subtle nuances of human interaction, and often makes innocent comments that land him in hot water. Kokichi in particular enjoys teasing him over this quirk.

 • Gonta Gokuhara (Ultimate Entomologist) – As a little boy, Gonta was such an avid bug catcher that he got himself lost in a forest for ten years. During this time, he was raised by a pack of kindhearted wolves, and even learned to speak with animals and insects before being reunited with his human family. To repay his forest family, Gonta strives to become a true gentleman and conducts himself accordingly. However, because he spent his formative years living in the forest, Gonta is somewhat naive and has difficulty conversing with other students his age. Despite being as strong as his appearance would suggest, Gonta is a pacifist who has never killed any living creature, including insects.

 • Shuichi Saihara (Ultimate Detective) – A young apprentice detective who helped his uncle run a detective business. The bulk of their cases were small jobs that mainly involved investigating cheating couples. However, there was one occasion where Shuichi actually solved a murder before the police did. For this, he was recognized as the Ultimate Detective. But Shuichi believes the case was solved by coincidence and luck, and that he does not deserve the honor of an Ultimate title. Shuichi’s insecurities tend to make him rather timid, but he is quick to act in situations where his keen intuition is needed.

 • Tsumugi Shirogane (Ultimate Cosplayer) – Tsumugi is a very popular cosplayer who has received sponsorships from many different companies. If you ask Tsumugi, she’ll tell you that she enjoys making her costumes more than wearing them. However, she can’t stand seeing her costumes worn by attention-seeking cosplayers instead of true fans like her, so she often ends up wearing them anyway. Tsumugi has a reserved, studious demeanor and a soft, kind personality. But whenever the subject of cosplay or fandom comes up, she becomes very passionate and outspoken. She has a tendency to completely ignore those around her when she’s especially deep in thought. She also has a habit of referencing anime, video games, and manga over the course of a normal conversation.

 • Monosuke (Monokumba Kub) – Monosuke is very opinionated and has no patience for Monokid’s foul language. That being said, he is also the most rational member of the Monokubs, and often falls into the straightman role within the group’s antics. Monosuke believes that the Monokubs should be hostile toward each other, and approves of infighting among the group.

Meet Kaede, Rantaro, Miu, Kokichi, Monotaro, and Monokid.

Danganronpa-V3_09-14-17.jpg

The fourth and final in NIS America’s series of “Ultimate Roll Call” trailers for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony introduces Kaede Akamatsu, Rantaro Amami, Miu Iruma, Kokichi Oma, Monotaro, and Monokid.

Here are details about each character:

 • Kaede Akamatsu (Ultimate Pianist) – Kaede has been playing the piano ever since she was a child, earning her the not-so-flattering nickname, “Piano Freak.” After winning numerous trophies at piano competitions, she soon received the far more prestigious title of Ultimate Pianist. Kaede has a positive personality and puts all her effort toward achieving her goals. She feels a deep resentment toward Monokuma for forcing everyone to participate in his absurd killing game.
 • Rantaro Amami (Ultimate ???) – Though Rantaro can’t remember what his Ultimate talent is, he doesn’t let that get him down.
 • Miu Iruma (Ultimate Inventor) – An inventor who is responsible for creating a wide variety of commercial products, starting with her famous “Eyedrop Contact Lenses.” However, Miu believes that coasting through life is the best way to live it.
 • Kokichi Oma (Ultimate Supreme Leader) – A boy whose Ultimate talent is being the supreme leader of an evil secret organization that boasts a membership of over 10,000 people.
 • Monotaro (Monokumba Kub) – The childish, scatterbrained leader of the Monokubs. Monotaro often struggles to keep his rambunctious siblings focused on the task at hand.
 • Monokid (Monokumba Kub) – Short-tempered and foul-mouthed, Monokid is the most violent of the Monokubs. He doesn’t really pay attention when others are talking, and will chime in seemingly at random to spout incoherent nonsense. He is often the reason that the group’s conversations suddenly derail. Monokid loves to bully Monodam, and has subjected his sibling to so much abuse that his heart has grown cold and distant. He loves to pepper his sentences with the catchphrase, “Hell yeah!”

Danganronpa One More Another Episode?

Danganronpa-Hiring_11-15-17.jpg

Spike Chunsoft is recruiting staff for “Danganronpa modeling and texture creation.”

According to the job listing, which was posted on November 13, the company is seeking a game programmer, character designer, and 3D designer who will “mainly participate in [the development of] Danganronpa.” The specific duties of the staff are said to consist of “character modeling” and “texture creation.”

The work environment section of the job listing reads the following:

 • Platforms: PlayStation 4, PS Vita, etc.
 • Genre: Action, etc.
 • Tools: Maya, ZBrush, PhotoShop
The “etc.” part of each bullet can be a bit confusing, but at the very least it suggests a new Danganronpa action game is in development for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The “character modeling” duties of the recruited staff also support that, as characters in traditional Danganronpa games are 2D.

The latest entry in the Danganronpa series, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony (pictured), launched in Japan in January, followed by North America and Europe in September. While the Danganronpa series mainly consists of adventure games, it has seen an action game spin-off in the past with the release of Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls in 2014.

Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

A Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Spoiler Interview That May Or May Not Be A Lie… Upupupu . December 28, 2017 . 1:00pm

Siliconera previously spoke with Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka and we promised not to post it until the end of the year to give players time to play through it before talking about its ending.

Siliconera previously spoke with Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka and we promised not to post it until the end of the year to give players time to play through it before talking about its ending.

Now that Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony has been out for over three months, here’s our little conversation with Kazutaka Kodaka. Again, it may contain spoilers to some, so those of you who’ve yet to finish the game might want to skip this for now. You can also check out our spoiler free interview here.

And here it is:

Kodaka-san what do you think of reality TV?
Kazutaka Kodaka, Creator, Director, and Scenario Writer: “That’s a hard question to answer. I have a lot of thoughts into it, but of course reality TV is showing people’s lives as how they unravel with a lot of drama. So there are parts that might tie into the game.”

The ending of Danganronpa V3 is interesting since it can have different interpretations. What do you think about the ending and how fans are reacting to it?
Kodaka: “We put what we felt would be fun and interesting into a game and this goes for Danganronpa V3 too. We don’t think about making a game that would fit what fans would expect. We are proud of the ending because lately there aren’t many games that have fans debate over the ending.

The Western culture really likes reality TV and it’s really popular there. Because of that, I feel the Western culture will have different views on the ending and I’m excited to see if the Western gamers would be able to accept the ending more compared to Japan who is focused on the characters and character popularity. If you are focused on the characters you might find the ending strange or very sad.”

Where do you want to take the Danganronpa series next?
Kodaka: I don’t have any plans after Danganronpa V3, but this game is centered around lies. And this interview may be a lie too.

Cyber Danganronpa VR was an interesting take on the series. Would you like to revisit VR for a future game?
Kodaka: Right now we haven’t decided if we will go that direction. Cyber Danganronpa VR completes itself as a demo. If we were to work further on it we would have to create it from scratch.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC.
