Okay, technically, it's titled Swiss Army Man, but anyway, it caused quite a stir at Sundance...

Sundance: Daniel Radcliffe’s Farting Corpse Movie Prompts Walk-Outs

One of the most anticipated movies at this year’s Sundance Film Festival also turned out to be among the most divisive. On Friday afternoon, the Eccles Theater had to turn away hundreds of movie fans, and even a few industry VIPs, at the packed premiere of “Swiss Army Man,” starring Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano.

But the bizarre fable about a lost man (Dano) who befriends a farting corpse (Radcliffe) could win the festival’s award for the most walk-outs, as a continuous stream of audience members kept standing up and bolting for the door throughout the film.

The indie, directed by the music video duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, opens with Radcliffe (as the corpse) washing onto a shore. Dano’s character inspects the body, as it comes to life by twitching and passing gas.

The story unfolds in a magical realist style and features long discussions about *********ion, isolation and the meaning of life. It also features a kiss between Dano and Radcliffe (who continues to flee his Harry Potter image by taking part in a reoccurring gag where his dead character maintains an erection).

“The chance to play a dead guy in this context was too much fun to pass up,” Radcliffe said in an audience Q and A.

Scheinert said the inspiration for the story was “a fart joke.”

The film has drawn mixed reactions.

Swiss Army Man: completely nuts, hilarious, unique & bizarre. Dano & Radcliffe were great & clearly had so much fun w this madness #Sundance
I just watched a 90-minute fart joke, but it was a wholly original one.#Sundance

As Sundance enters its second day, buyers have started to gripe that the movies aren’t commercial this year, which may result in a batch of deals that slowly come together instead of heated bidding wars.
#MustSee

I was surprised how much I enjoyed Radcliffe in Horns and the premise to this sounds great and Paul Dano costarring is a positive. Can't wait to see it.

I like the bizarre, but this could be too much even for me LOL

First trailer's here:

That trailer is fantastic.

looks entertaining and intriguing.

The whole film will probably be the what if had you lived the life you could have lived had you not taken your life. The ending will probably book end the beginning, in that he dies from the noose.

I'm probably only going to see this because it's an A24 movie and they've been pushing quality film after quality film.

Loved this trailer but I hope it's actually good. It definitely could be. It's a great idea and if done right could be really special but this could go either way.

The role he was born for. It wasn't Harry Potter.

It comes out this week in NYC. Seeing it tomorrow night after work, I seriously can't wait! The indies this summer seem to be hitting it out of the park. 'Sing Street' was my favorite movie in years. This looks to be amazing and right up my alley. Then in two weeks we've got 'Captain Fantastic' which looks incredible as well.

Favorite movie of the year after Sing Street. More than lives up and is funny as hell. Everyone was in hysterics. Trailers don't show all of the weird hijinks.

this movie is easily one of the most effed up movie I ever heard of, of course I wanna see it but sadly movies like these just do not play anywhere near me so looks like it will be blind buy on disc when it hits in a few months.

Wut?
:funny:

I must see it to believe it.
Better be entertaining.

Saw this yesterday. Man, the trailers were so much better than the film itself.

It just did NOT know what it wanted to be. Comedy, drama, love story, fantasy, twist ending. Maybe I just didn't like it because I don't think that premise can work for 90 minutes. You're never sure what's real, nothing gets explained.

Radcliffe was hilarious and Paul Dano is fine. The film has a lot of great moments, but I never felt like all of those moments came together to make a satisfying film. Just too weird.
