I don't know if either would work, because you are ultimately putting a score that was made for another film into a film that it wasn't made for. Those scores were literally made for another universe.

Bond has done fine remixing the same basic melody across several tonally different iterations. This is not an impossible task. Elfman's theme is so ingrained with the Batman-DNA I can't fathom how people insist it can only belong to Burton/Keaton.

Yeah, I think the fact that it's endured as THE Batman theme even though there have been 3 cinematic iterations and 7 films since the last time it was used speaks volumes.

And unlike the Williams Supes theme, it's actually very simple and malleable, stylistically. That is, it could change with the times and remain largely intact.

But yes, this remains my primary concern about the score now. I am so not ready to part ways with that theme.

Not what I'm talking about. Fans are well within their right to prefer a wholly new direction. I'm referring to the few who won't budge on the notion a theme from one iteration can be integrated into another and still belong.

maybe if the theme wasn't used in BTAS, I would feel different. But that will always be what I hear when I think of the Bat.

I pray he doesn't.

Though, in the second trailer, we did hear a variation of the MOS theme that wasn't in the previous movies, so it would be weird if marketing created that for just the trailer rather than Elfman.

I don't think it'll be around for the entirety of the film, but it'll be there for the most important superman moment, that I'm willing to bet on.

As someone who cried when Junkie left, I'm totally onboard to bring back THE Batman theme. The theme from my childhood. I think at the right kind of badass moment, hearing that theme could be a crowd cheering moment. Imagine a scene where Batman swoops down from the shadows and kicks some Parademon ass and that theme is blaring on the speakers. Plus, like another poster said story-wise it works. While Junkie's theme was cool, it was definitely a much more menacing and brooding Batman theme to reflect the mind state Batman was in during that movie. Now, Bruce is back to his old self, he is THE BATMAN again and I think bringing back the classic theme is appropriate.

That said, there will be Hell to pay if the MoS has been discarded and is not used when Superman sweeps in to save the day.

also very open to this. If we're going to celebrate these characters to the fullest extent, might as well go all the way. No better way to do it than with the theme of the most well known and beloved version of the JL.

My bigger concern is if when the Batman solo movie comes along that they will create an entirely new theme thus having 3 Batman themes in one universe. I’d hope they do what WW did and incorporate the existing (Elfman) theme into the solo movie and develop it from there.

Eh..I liked the quirkiness of the Homecoming score, but it's really not a patch on Elfman's music.

I honestly think that Howard Shore could make a gothic Batman score that could stand in the same room as Elfman's, but I would be just about as happy to see Elfman score The Batman.

Giacchino worked on TFA???

Goldenthal's scores are underrated.

I loved his theme. But every time I think of old-school Batman theme, the Batman: The Animated Series one comes to me mind first.

I don't believe this. Not one bit. First off, there's no way Giacchino could help Williams composing-wise. Second off, Williams is quite protective of his SW saga composing. It's his baby.

Yeah the only thing I could find was that he played a Stormtrooper. Regardless I hope when Giacchino inevitably scores The Batman that he reuses Elfmans theme at least as the base and develops from there.

Um... Michael Giacchino collaborates regularly with Matt Reeves, so he will be the first choice to score the Batman solo. And he highly respects what came before him, he will likely use the Elfman and/or Zimmer Batman material in his score.

I don't know where you're getting that from. JJ might have suggested to Kathleen Kennedy that Giacchino would be a terrific replacement composer on Rogue One, but never did I see anything that Giacchino worked with Williams on TFA.
