Dark Army | A Universal Monster Movie

Reworked Dark Universe!? Well let's see how this first one turns out

First one? They've already had Dracula Untold and the Mummy. Do they keep retconning everything to be the first instalment?

That's like if Marvel Studios made Iron Man and it flopped, and they eventually got to Avengers Endgame and said "alright, this really is the first instalment of our cinematic universe now". :o

Well they're rebooting this new first installment into an ensemble film. Maybe for the best

I don't get why they have such difficulty with this
I was watching a walkthrough of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights the other day and I was like "man, this would be such an awesome movie if they could just get their s*** together"
But hiring Feig does not give me confidence that they have done so

Paul Feig doesn't fill me with confidence.
Blumhouse co-producing is fine I guess.

I think Universal could of handed the keys of their monster vault to Del Toro and his various proteges like Andrés Muschietti (IT/Mama), Guillem Morales (Julia's Eyes) and J. A. Bayona (The Orphanage) if they wanted some prestige horror fantasy films but it seems like they want do a blockbuster shared universe type thing with the Dark Universe monster franchise.

Guy who directed the "controversial" 2016 Ghostbusters.

That movie was quite mediocre so I don't have high hopes for this so far.

But to be fair, the directing wasnt really a problem...none of his movies so far were badly directed i think.
They had awful scripts and stuff but the directing was decent enough.
But yeah...that doesnt give someone high hopes.

I would love for this universe to work, to evolve and grow you know...but i have no clue how to be honest it could work in this day and age.
What kind of style those movies need to go.

Whatever, nobody else seems to know what to do with these guys.

Can't be any worse than Alex Kurtzman, right?

RIGHT?!...

Well they already had a bunch of movies where they were a group of bad guys, Monster Squad. And one where they were semi good guys, league of extraordinary gentlemen. So what's left?

Yeesh, they're really committed to bringing all these monsters back as heroes.

Actually, yeah. Why don’t they just hand over these characters to del Toro? Let him be the Feige to the Universal Monsters. I’m sure he’d love to do it. He did The Shape of Water because he couldn’t do his Creature of the Black Lagoon movie.
