Dark Avengers Script Commissioned by Marvel Studios

-Zemo
-Batroc
-Red Skull
-Abomination

But these are all (in)famous villains (well, except Batroc, I guess, but he's worthless anyway). The Dark Avengers should be supervillains who can believably pose as superheroes.

The only one that I'd keep from your list is Abomination. If people can forgive Hulk for all the crap he did (dude even has his own ice cream :o) then it wouldn't be far-fetched to believe that they would also give Abomination a second chance.

While I liked the Secret Invasion and Dark Reign storylines, I always found it really hard to buy that people would consider Norman this great hero and put him in a position of power like that.
True, but that's comic Osborn. MCU Osborn would be a different character.

I wonder what an MCU version of Osborn will be.

The more practical reason to use Ross instead of Osborn is Osborn falls solidly under the Sony rights. Marvel would have to negotiate his use, and I don't see it happening at this point. Especially when their current deal for Spidey is nearly over and a new contract is needed.

Hopefully if they do sign a new deal it is for a long time so it becomes worth introducing characters like that.

Just saying but so far isn't really only one source saying this? And every other online reference to this script is quoting that one source? And even in that one source they say that Marvel commissions scripts treatments all the time and not to count on this being greenlit right now even if there's a script?

Oh definitely. That would be the #1 reason for sure.

Well if true, it is clearly for this script.

You would think Sony would happily part with Norman for a bit. They wouldn’t want to annoy the mouse.

I wonder who would play MCU Norman? And Harry for that matter? I wouldn’t be surprised if they went for someone unexpected to play the role

Could be cool, but Dark Avengers only works if it has an edge and that's not something the MCU has played with in any serious way. They got away with it in IW because it's all going to be undone in A4, but to do this concept justice it needs some real darkness in it.

I'm interested, I just don't see Feige and the Mouse doing this justice. Marvel Studios already has a history of watering down more adult storylines from the comics to stay family friendly.

I feel like Sony should have gotten their fill of Osborns after having them prominently feature in both the Raimi and Amazing series.

With the recent Kraven news, him being a big MCU player seems contradictory unless the Kraven movie is directly MCU.

It occurs to me given Killmonger's habit of being resurrected in the comics, they could have him come back as the evil Black Panther equivalent.

If he was going to get brought back I'd prefer it be in something like this than a BP sequel anytime soon.

I don't think Killmonger will ever be resurrected; they gave him a very memorable line before he died, and bringing him back will cheapen the moment. Besides, T'Challa had offered to heal him but he refused.

Being brought back against his will by an Osborn type character (imperialist) is perfectly in line with the themes of the cinematic version of him though.

First thing guys this is only just getting a script written so may not even happen for a while (phase 5 maybe even 6 if at all).
On Norman Osbourne I think it's 70/30 he would be in it, first as stated Sony have been trying to keep Kraven and Norman out of their spiderless universe, second it came out yesterday that the writer has put Spiderman in he's 1st draft of the Kraven solo movie and that there was a lot of hurdles to get over fitting Kraven into "the wider marvel universe", now he did not say MCU but we also know that Coogler wanted to use Kraven as a villain in the 1st Black Panther movie but was not allowed so we know Marvel wants the character (I am sure he is on the shortlist for villains for Black Panther 2).
As for the other Members:
Ghost
Moonstone (from Captain Marvel 2)
The Sentry (Introduced in he's own solo movie 1st, I know he is a divisive figure in the comic community but he is a Big part of Dark Avengers)
Taskmaster (Standin for Hawkeye is going to be Ronin in A4)

There are of course others to consider (zemo, abomination, Hammer etc.)

I'd go with...

Thaddeus Ross - Director of Operations

Red Hulk - ELLIOT Ross (would be great to see Martin Freeman become the MCU's RULK)
Citizen V / Iron Patriot - Helmut Zemo
Abomination - Emil Blonsky (with some kind of control collar)
Mordo
Ghost / Yellowjacket II - Ava Starr (healed but still has the tech and gives us a sympathetic pov character to follow) )
Goliath II - Tom Foster (the "red shirt" of the team whose death causes Starr to leave at the end giving us two spare places to add Crossbones and one other and rebrand the team as the MCU Thunderbolts)

Nice call! I forgot about him. Yeah, I could see Mordo joining a team of supervillains if that meant gaining access to more information about magic users and their whereabouts.

My ideal team:
Norman Osborn
Moonstone
(introduced in Captain Marvel 2)
Mordo
Abomination
Ares
(introduced in Eternals)
Wolverine (the original one. Seriously, why not)

Yeah I'd love to see the gradual introduction of Ares, Hercules, Pluto and Phobos
I really want this to happen, even it takes a good while to get there.

Same. Everyone seems to be talking about Oliver Jackson Cohen at the moment, he would make a great ares

I think both Norman and Kraven will be in MCU.
Anyone for my team there would be 4 essentials:
Norman Osborn
Moonstone
Ares
The Sentry

The other characters I am flexible on the others although Ghost, Scorpion (Gargan) and Mordo are strong contenders (as Venom, Noh-Varr, Bullseye and Daken are not really options and I don't like the second incarnation of the Dark avengers)

I find it so hard to imagine this movie happening without Sentry and Ares...

Who says it wouldn’t?

I wonder who would be the perfect Sentry though?
