Do you guys think the film should of been darker you don't have to see work print to notice this.Look at the Weapon X Flashbacks Logan has in X-men 2 the way it is presented in a closed environment and the colors of dark neon green and black makes the flashback look quite gritty. Then look how it is presented in Origins a little too clean and stylized hell even Wolverine's look is a bit clean and groomed. The look of Horror in Wolverine's face in weapon x flashbacks with blood coming down his arms and body and shock of claws coming out of his fists.

what are your guys opinion on this should it have been darker and grittier?

Yes. It could've been darker and grittier.

This was my main problem. The X-Men (2000) and X2: X-Men United (2003) flashbacks to the Weapon X events are entirely different than the way we see them in this film.

It was creepy and macabre in the flashbacks. The creepy surgeons in the Darth Vader like masks. The large needles, and the champagne being passed out as they celebrated what they believed to be a "success". When he came out killing everyone, Logan was actually more violent in the flashbacks, and he had blood all over him when the claws first came out as he screamed. The room was dark and gritty. It was very unsanitary looking and "mad scientist". This was too pristine and sanitary.

Also, the name "Wolverine", in the flashbacks was given to him BY Stryker as he is seen placing the dog tags onto Logan.

This was my main problem....I would have liked to see the flashbacks match up more continuity wise with the origins film.

Not only would it have been better for continuity, but it would have been a better visual and tone for the film.

One of the hugest complaints I have about this film was the experiment and then his escape. It was a complete let down.

Darker & grittier would've definitely been the way to go. Heck, you've got Wolverine as the main character, this thing should've been rated R and a story should've been a little more closer to the comics. This movie is in looks and tone more in line with X3, than X1-2. One action scene after another, tons of fan service and just overall a bad adaptation of Wolverine's Weapon X Origin.

After Watchmen I can understand why they would avoid making it rated R, but they should have at least made it as dark as The Dark Knight. And Weapon X should have been as dark as the flashback was in X2.

Yes! This woulda been better. By alot.

god those 2 clips up there make me so angry what we got what we got was too pretty to generic too stylized

on a side note is anybody else curious if brian actually filmed a full weapon x scene or just in flashbacks i am intrigued if he did

Flashbacks only.

Maybe if he sticked with the X-franchise, he'd have the whole thing revealed in a third/fourth movie.

i just get so angry because x men franchise could have gone as long as the James bond series. But now it is all too late and great stories and characters cant come to the big screen unless there was a reboot and i don't think that will ever happen .

I would have loved to have seen Singer's X-Men 3 followed by a prequel of his Wolverine story. His vision of the Weapon X experiment was perfect in tone- I would have loved to see it.

He would also have done a great job with Magneto's storyline in an origin film, I feel.

It's a shame.

trust me you don't want the magneto movie if yo know who is directing it you know it will be ****

Please at least tell me the EVENTS in Origins happen like in the flashbacks in the first films. :csad:

Well, not LITERALLY tell me I guess since that's a no no here, but you know what I mean. :o

In X1 Wolverine said when he pops out his claws...it hurts every time:( I didn't get any of that vibe from the leak:(

I lost my copy of X2, haven't seen it in ages. :(

Very little from the flashbacks seems to have been used in the Wolverine film.

I'm not suprised, which makes it even worse...

Well, the darker tones shown in the flashbacks in X1 and X2 made more sense as they were supposed to be just that, HAUNTING FLASHBACKS. There needed to be an added sense of darkness, mystery, and terror as if one was reliving a nightmare.

As we're seeing it live with him at that moment in the present in this origin story, surely it shouldn't look the same way.

I'm not saying that the movie is still 100% consistent with the other movies--I'm only saying that the difference in the LOOK of the scenes aren't without reason. This aspect is not a big deal.

IT seems like everything was toned down.Have to sell those Happy Meals and toys for the kiddies

in Xmen 1 i think wolverine was a badass and flawed character.

from the idea i get from X-men last stand and anything i hear about this film, the producers want wolverine to do no wrong, be a true hero and badass at same time and in the end he dont have much personallity anymore as they are too scared to accidently turn him anti-hero

I like Wolverine in X1 the best. He's still good in X2. In X3 he became too much of a softy and good guy. In Origins I feel like I'm watching X3 Wolverine again.

Definitely a darker tone is needed. Wolvie's not at all what Stryker had said about him in X2: “You’re an animal now you were an animal then. I just gave you claws.” I was expecting wild vicious Wolverine who later turns good. Instead, I got a Superman wannabe complete with a farm and an old couple :whatever:

true true.
what Stryker said about wolverine in the movies is not the wolverine we got.

They can't make it as dark as TDK, couse Nolan isn't directing it.
