This game is AWESOME! It's in Early Access on Steam but is perfectly playable (I wish I would have waited, if only to ensure I wouldn't overplay it and burn out before release). The best description I have seen is "Adventurer Manager + XCOM, set in the world of Warhammer Fantasy if it was created by Lovecraft.

It's very Lovecraftian, from the premise (you are the heir to a once mighty estate, given the task of reclaiming your ancestral manor) to the gothic artwork and dialogue that set the tone. The roguelike aspect comes from expendable adventurers that might die, or might be reduced to worthless wrecks from stress accumulation earned by exploring horrific caverns and crypts and battling the horrors within.

It is excellent. Highly recommended.

"The Crimson Court" and "The Shieldbreaker" add-ons also available.

The Switch version of Darkest Dungeon will launch via the Nintendo eShop on January 18, developer Red Hook Studios announced.
The main game will cost $24.99, and “The Crimson Court” and “The Shieldbreaker” downloadable contents will cost $9.99 and $3.99, respectively.


Darkest Dungeon first launched for PC in January 2016, followed by Linux that April, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita that September, and iOS in August 2017. An Xbox One version has yet to be officially announced, but it has been rated in Europe.


Red Hook Studios said it will announce more information on ithe upcoming “The Color of Madness” downloadable content in the coming months.

In March 2018, Darkest Dungeon: Ancestral Edition will let Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 owners get a physical copy of the game.
