Check this out. It's an interview from 1976.

"Well, I've thought of it and talked about it. I talked to McQueen once, and to John Wayne . . . that would be interesting casting, John Wayne and myself . . . but we've never had the right story. That's 95 percent of a movie, the story. If you start without one, you're dead. Maybe Charles Bronson and I could make a movie together . . .."

Damn it, Eastwood. You should have tried harder. :csad:

Why Catman Why?

You've destroyed my life in one foul swoop!

Clint, The Duke, Bronsan and Steve MotherF'in McQueen!

They don't make movie stars like they used to :csad:

Wow!

That movie would have been epic.

Wow!

That movie would have been epic.

Just from star power alone. The director and the story could have been dogs**t and wouldn't have mattered. Hell, Eastwood could have directed it!

That wouldn't have been wise. I mean...we all know how worked up McQueen got about working with his rival Paul Newman. He may have agreed to star with Eastwood, but he probably wouldn't have accepted him as the movie's director.

$5 bucks says McQueen starts a fight with John Wayne!

lol. Eastwood said John Wayne as a joke. This interview is from 1976. John Wayne in 1976 was near death. The man died from cancer in 1979. 3 years later.

Damn, that would've be a whole lotta sexy.

A movie with both Eastwood & the Duke wouldve brought apon an explosion in the space-time continuum, destroying the universe.

The human brain couldnt handle that much awesomeness.

It would have been a fascinating thing to behold.

The testosterone overload alone would've given all the audiences male-pattern baldness. The ushers would've been ticked off at having to sweep up all that hair after every showing.:cwink:

I really wish this could have happened. :csad:

By the mid to late 70's, it was near the end for both Wayne and McQueen. Wayne died in June of '79, McQueen died a little more than a year later in November of '80...That's really sad.

McQueen even turned down Spielberg when he asked him to star in Close Encounters in '76/'77...His career, as well as his life was coming to an end! :csad:
