Darren Aronofsky is taking on The Wrestler

Sounds kinda weird. Never heard of that wrestler before either.

It sounds very intersting, I am looking forward to finally see Cage back to drama genre

I missed the part about Cage, but wrestling? Coupled with his ballet and boxing projects, Aronofsky sure is surprising the hell out of me.

I definitely can't see Nicholas Cage as a wrestler, that's almost as hard to believe as him playing Superman. :o

I read Cage's name on another site....where was that reported?

Found it:

Nicolas Cage's fondness for intense roles has led the Oscar winner to an independent drama, The Wrestler. The story tells of a 1980s pro-wrestler who risks his life to come out of retirement and fight his old nemesis. Darren Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures will produce, but it was unclear last night whether he would also direct.

Is this an April Fool's joke?? I mean... I have nothing against the film or Nic Cage, but...

Aronofsky's directing The Fighter and The Wrestler? This seems like some sorta lame studio joke... "Head to head, The Fighter vs The Wrestler!"...

I pretty much like everything Aronofsky has done, so...bring it on.

I remember watching one film with him and during one scene (maybe it was casino sequence, I can't remember exactly) he started breaking everything and he did really look like bulky psych with amazing muscular mass. So i have no problems thinking of him as a wrestler.

I'm kinda disappointed. The movie doesn't sound like anything special and Aronofsky's films have always been "special".

Could be the first film from him that I don't like. The Fighter don't sound so great either. :ninja:

But there's gotta be some catch, it's Aronofsky goddamnit...

thats what i am thinking, why is he taking these weird movies when he is such a deeper film maker, the synopsis of both movies lead me to believe they will be pretty disappointing.... call me crazy... dont let me down darren....

What worries me is that from this movie seemingly treats wrestling as "real". In this day and age, that won't fly.

I'm surprised nobody has posted...

...nevermind.

It's the serious version of Nacho Libre.

That's kind of annoying. A while ago he was attached to Lone Wolf and Cub, that's what I've been waiting for him to make.

seems like the ram is an anology for hulk hogan

Clearly just a rip-off of this...

Hulk Hogan's masterpiece. Alongside Suburban Commando.

Randy Robinson wasn't a real professional wrestler. He's a fictional one most likely based on some real life ones for the purpose of this movie.
