Darthphere's House of Style: From Geek to Chic.

LOL I like that. Everyone has their exam good luck charms I guess :D.

I also slaughter a couple of hobos on the way there.

That's sweet that your parents buy you clothes. My mom stopped trying after 10th grade :funny:

Yes, but the thing is, I have to go with them and they buy my stuff right then and there. Kind of takes away the surprise part of the gift but it also takes away the "Ugly ass shirt you only wear once to make them feel good" effect.

Those two outfits are hot girlfriend. I love the first watch too.

You know, I'm glad this thread got bumped. I have a pretty sweet outfit planned for finals tomorrow. Black pants, black shoes. Royal Blue button down shirt. Grey cardigan. Blue and Red Bowtie. Blue and Red suspenders.

Now I know what you are thinking, But Womp! Surely even you won't be able to pull of the Niles Crane! What will your peers think!?!

Well gang, it's called conditioning. You see, throughout the semester, I have been systematically wearing braver, fancier, outfit choices in preparation for tomorrow, the coup de Womps. I have worn a tie for no particular reason at least two days a week every week, and last week, I debuted a bowtie for the first time, just to toe the waters. Friends, the waters seemed inviting. I received many a compliment for my brown bowtie (I bought it in Venice you know) and am ready to make the bowtie a semi-regular accessory for the old Wompster.

As for the suspenders, even I am somewhat uncomfortable with them, but, they are my dead grandfathers and are really sweet looking and too good to pass up. They will be under the cardigan of course so very subtle. If all goes well, no one will even know I'm wearing them.

Perhaps I should add a style section to The Womp Nation? Darth, your thoughts?

I don't know if it will work on Womp Nation LOL! Also, the look is tight, if you can pull it off, kudos to you. Especially since you're going to get fit.

LOL I like that. Everyone has their exam good luck charms I guess :D.

I have a dead chihuahua.

Yeah, I think I need that first watch now lol. I'm in love with it!

I sacrifice the soul of an child before my finals. Don't worry, I don't kill them.

The second one is nice, but I hate the rocks on the actual band. Plus, the little flower design is cute on the first one.

I loves the bling. But yes, the flower design is what attracts me to the first one. Love it.

Darthphere Fashion Tip: Cheap doesn't mean bad

So, you're shopping around, for the latest look and find the outfit you want. Problem is, you're short on cash and it's way out of your price range regardless. This is where being thrifty pays off. Other than visiting your local thrift store for a retro modern look you can look in other avenues. Places like Target are offering designer inspired clothes for fraction of the price you'd pay for at designer stores. For men, Converse has a hipster inspired line of clothing from tight jeans, to plaid button downs, to leather jackets, you don't have to break the bank to look good for the ladies.

For women, designers like Isaac Mizrahi are now designing clothes exclusively for Target. Cute cocktail dresses, designer tee shirts and even shoes.

Other than Target, don't be afraid to visit stores like TJ Maxx or Ross. Those stores have real designer clothes from Polo, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein for up to 60% less than retail.

^Rodarte for Target comes out on the 20th!!!!

My mom won't do that. She wants me to be surprised :o. I'd be just as happy to get the clothes, TBH.

I think everyone knows that the only true way to get through exams is to study hard, and to sacrifice a virgin the night of the full moon before your first exam.

My main issue with Target is that all the ones I've been to do not have a good clothing selection. There's a lot more online than in store, which I don't like. I like to see things in person.

It must depend on the place you go. I've been to some that are great, and some that have nothing. Maybe if you can find one with lower traffic?

Plus, Target's sizes are damn inconsistent. I range from a L to an XXL there. Granted, I never buy anything that's XXL for pride's sake.

That's too bad. I looove Target, though that may be because its a treat for me to go there. We don't have them in Canada :(. The designer lines are the best. And the one that's coming out on the 20th looks really good...can't wait to get to the States and see it in person.

I went shopping for some new button-up shirts, recently. I have about a dozen white shirts (it was part of the work uniform for Fry's Electronics, and I accumulated quite a few spares over the years), 2 black shirts, and about 3 striped black shirts that I'm getting tired of.

Apparently I have unusually long monkey arms, because it was nearly impossible to find 36/37 length sleeves. I could only ever find all those white shirts in my size at Walmart (where they pretty much only carry black and a lot of white), or the Big & Tall store (where the shirts are way too damn long if I'm not gonna tuck them in).

Understandable.

Target is awesome. One one day, I bought a shirt, some DVD's, a video game, a gallon of milk and some bleach.

I've been an XL since age...10. I still wear t-shirts from 8th grade. Being a really fat kid has its advantages when you grow into a kinda fat person. Vintage grade school shirts are sweeeeet. I'm all like, why yes ladies, I was on the Our Lady of Lourdes Eighth Grade Boys Basketball Team.

Funny story about vintage tees. In high school, we made a bunch of WompuM t-shirts for our band (hence my name) and sold 'em to our classmates. We probably sold about 20 to 30 of them. Well I ran into the bassist from the band whom I haven't seen in years and he tells me a story how he was walking around his campus about 300 miles away, and saw a person wearing a WompuM t-shirt. Apparently the chick bought it at a thrift store. So, keep your eyes open for those ultra-rare WompuM t-shirts gang.

Target isn't that bad for me when I hit the clearence rack. I usually can get a couple shirts and a flannel shirt for 2 to 3 dollars a piece.

On this topic of style. I was wearing my corduroy blazer the other day(with elbow patches) and had my hoodie on underneath it for layers.

And someone I know said I look like a hobo. Is that actually hobo worthy?

Understandable.

I love Target.

I'd love to buy a blu-ray, a 360 game, alcohol and some fireworks.

But not clothes.

Unless they are novelty t-shirts.

:o

XXL FTW fellas!

Yeah boy! For the record, I'm a big dude, I'm 6'4" so even if I was skinny McGee I'd probably still need to rock XXL.

Depends on a couple of things. Was the blazer distressed? How was your hair? Did you shave? Generally speaking, that look doesn't scream hobo however.

I see one more grown male wearing a scarf indoors, Im going on a rampage with my shovel
