David cronenbergs the fly

One of cronenberg's greatest films and his most commercial to this date. A film that has all of cronenberg's trademarks including of course his body horror, a film that's both a great sci-fi horror film and a great tragic love story. It Has spectacular oscar winning make-up effects and great performances by jeff goldblum geena davis and john getz. I have the new 2-disc dvd set and its a most for both cronenberg fans or simply fans of the film itself(or heck just fans of film making in general). It has one of the greatest most in depth and informative making of documentaries ever made and this is not an exaggeration,(2 hrs 42min not only the running time but the detail of it) it has more BTS test footage, make-up tests and everything you would ever want to know about this film its just amazing. It has lots of behind the scenes footage of the spacebug (final brundle fly) make-up explanations set design(rotating cylinder room) everything it covers all the production aspects, its just fascinating. Plus the film itself which blows me away every time I see it. lets talk about this great masterpiece of sci-fi horror cinema, which to me should have its own place alongside alien, Blade runner, and other sci-fi gems.

Simply put, David Cronenberg's "The Fly" is one of the greatest horror films ever made. I still get creeped out watching the final transformation from Jeff Goldblum to full blown man-fly-monster.

I agree that Higgis' Crash is certainly overrated but to me it is far better than Cronenberg's that falls flat.

i love cronenberg, but i never did get into the fly. i dunno why, i just didnt connect with it. my favorite cronenberg films are his earlier ones like the brood, shivers, and rabid.

i made a thread on him a while back if anyone is wanting to discuss his work.

I will buy it on Blu-ray when it comes out and believe it or not, the blu-ray version has all the extras from the 2 disc dvd version and more all in one beautifull body.

Cronenberg's visuals are so raw and visceral. Even in his other works (Videodrome, Naked Lunch)

The birth scene is still one of the most disturbing and scary scenes i have ever seen
