I don't get why people rag on the human element of Rise so much. It's largely connected to the ape plot and I think Franco was pretty good in it. It's not a showy performance, but he sold every emotion and motivation of his character for me to by into his plight. The stuff with his father is some of the best stuff of the film. Frida Pinto was likable and a decent moral compass of the story. She didn't have much to do, but her presence wasn't a distraction either. The only human element I didn't care for was Draco Malf-I mean Tom Felton. I know his character was supposed to directly mirror the ignorance of the apes in the original film, but they really needed a stronger actor to pull it off. His role is the only real hang up I have with the film.

And something that I really want to praise about Rise is it treats Alzheimer's with class. While the crux of the story isn't focused on it, the scenes dealing with it hit close to home for me, enough to bring tears to my eyes on how real it felt. John Lithgow knocked it out of the park.

Yea i liked Franco and Lithgow's work a lot. Franco made the character real and likeable. Despite some of his questionable actions, his motivation came from the right place.

Pinto was absolutely useless and bland in Rise. Franco was only okay to me.

They were fine and served simple purposes really, the Alzheimer component of the story is a real find though. The two screenwriters on ROTPA & DOPA, husband & wife Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver also wrote one of the Avatar sequels with Jim Cameron, very promising.

I haven't heard to many complaints about Franco and Lithgow. I have heard complaints about Pinto and Oyelowo. These are:

-Pinto was underused and didn't really do much of importance.
-Oyelowo was too cartoonishly evil/one-dimensional.

I liked Oyelowo performance and his character served it's purpose well in the story.

Giacchino's titles are always so knowingly cheesy, I've learned to love them.

Some of those could be the names of bands from the 90s.

Not sure if this has been posted.

RUNNING TIME 130m 16s

Rated 12A for moderate violence, threat, infrequent strong language

http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/dawn-planet-apes-film-0

Thats the best runtime, not too long and not too short.

Still cant believe Bay made transformers 4 almost 3 hours long and people still went in hoards to see it. Almost any movie close to even 2 and a half hours starts to drag for my tastes, unless it really really well done.

I regret reading that Caesar talks in Rise before seeing it. I'm going in clean to this so I can be surprised.

When is the review embargo over?

Daddy needs his review fix.

After re-watching Planet of the Apes 2001 I can only think of this, who would win in battle Caesar vs General Thade?

and also the ape prosthetics really were good.

Yeah i miss those too. I wish they did a combination of practical and CG for the final product, even though CG looks great its still weird to get into character with those sensors and cameras around. Im pretty sure Tim Roth belived he was an ape for sure under all that

He speaks a bit in this video:

Giacchino's track listings are always hilarious.

His Star Trek ones are some real gems.

I guess we are getting a post credits scenes.

From the score:

Track 18: Planet Of The End Credits (8:56)
Track 19: Ain’t That A Stinger (1:10)

For those few who don't know, a "stinger" is what a post-credit scene is called in Hollywood.

So anyone wanna take a guess at what it might be?

Oh and I found another clip. It's when Malcom enters Apeville and yells about needing to speak to Caesar.

I need this movie to wash the taste of Transformers 4 out of my brain.

The Visuals are pretty much the only good things when it comes to the Transformers movies.

The Plot and the Story suck.

You had to have known what you were getting into?

I learned my lesson after the 2nd film, never again.

Yeah, I knew full well. I actually think the first film is a lot of fun, and I even enjoyed the third one, but I went in with the lowest expectations and it didn't even exceed those.
