Agreed, and niche probably wasn't the right term. Thanks for engaging in a discussion.

I think Salt was a hit. I loved that film![]()
Movies like "Snow White and the Huntsman" and Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and even TV shows like Once Upon a Time, have been extremely popular, so it's not a shock to me that a movie like this gets made.
From the reviews I've read, it seems like Maleficent is more style over substance. To me Disney has done far worse than this. But it seems like the last big hit for the studio, live action anyway, was Pirates of the Caribbean.
The super hero hit X-Men: Days of Future Past opened big last week and has generated solid buzz with fanboys. Tentpoles this deep into a franchise series always drop hard but good word-of-mouth and the lack of a direct action competitor will soften the blow a bit. A 55% fall would lead to a weekend of about $40M and a cume to date of $169M.
Yeah and who was the one that said that Thor's role was "slightly more developed than Colossus"?
I know what I said, if you want to troll the boards, because me giving DOFP a 9/10 isn't good enough.
I said compared other films in the genre. I said this exact same thing last year about Star Trek, compared to Star Wars.
?
Well I know someone who iss seeing Maleficent in New York Right. He is one of 3 people in the theater to see it. OUCH.
It will be all the little kiddies tomorrow with their parent(s), even though I am hearing that there are parts that might be too much for some of the kids. But people bought their kids to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the Skin I Live In (both had numerous very explicit scenes that they all sat through), so after you see that nothing surprises me about some parents.
I think Box Office Mojo's X-Men projections are too generous but they've been more right than I so who knows?
Yep. No doubt the crowds will pick up. I have no idea how Thursday showings do outside of the comic movies, i don't pay attention.
I saw a Thursday showing of Grown Up's 2 and it was an empty theater for me...and that ended up doing $41,508,572 opening weekend. So i don't know how much can be took from early showings and how well they do.
I feel like I have to defend myself for seeing Grown Up's 2 early. Two of my favorite actresses Alyson Michalka and Halston Sage had small roles in the film. Only reason i saw it.
Maleficent is a kids and housewife movie so I wouldn't expect huge Thursday night grosses.
