From Aint It Cool News:

Hey folks, Harry here with the scoop on the next animated film scheduled for release in the Fall of 2009 from Warner Animation. This time it is SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES based upon the Jeff Loeb and Ed McGuinness comic series. Bruce Timm is the Executive Producer on the film and is currently actually in production!!! Here's the logo and the plot synopsis that I got my grubby hands upon!

SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES:
United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a
kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty
on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime” Batman.
Super heroes and super villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of
Superman and Batman, who must unite – and recruit super help – to
stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover
Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.

well think about it D-Man..comics in general are corny. And that's the charm.

That was a really good story in the comic. I'm gonna see it.

Meh. Short of the setup, the story has a few really good elements that are ruined by sheer cheese. The rest of it is cameo-ridden schlock. A recycled story from the past that no one cared about enough for it to become a key moment in the DC mythology. It could be decent, but I'm not expecting much in the way of improvements to the source material.

Should be good. I read and liked the comics, and whenever Superman & Batman get together it's great. The two of them are better together than they are seperately.

^ Your avatar is pretty funny, SuperFerret.

I've done funny, but I change it up. For now, I like the spinning \S/.

I want to steal Showtime's Superman avatar. He isn't even using it.

sounds a lot better than the other Public Enemies, which looks terribly boring (well, it's a Mann movie after all :hehe:)

I'm mostly looking forward to seeing Lex break out his battle armor

That's what we need, more of Batman and Superman :whatever:

How about Flash, Green Arrow, or something?

The big news here is that it's slated for release this fall, which means 2009 will be the first year with three DC Universe releases. If they've ramped up production to the point where we'll get three a year from now on that'll be peachy keen. :word:

Cool news!

I really enjoy the Superman/Batman stories, when written well.

But I haven't read this one, Is it good?

It was good, despite the stupid premise. Hawkman and Captain marvel versus Superman and batman. Batman and Supes versus like 100 villains. Captain Atom in a giant composite Superman Rocket. It's cheesy and kinda dumb but damn it if it wasn't awesome all the same. Will it work as an animated feature? That I don't know.

haha. i don't think mann's public enemies will be boring. it looks like a fast paced version of a 1930s version of heat. bale and depp are the most bankable stars out there right now.

as for this animated movie i think its going to tank. superman:doomsday sucked hard, yet people say it was an "awesome" interpretation of that story. i don't think that at all. it couldn't be far from it. changes happen but when you change things that didn't need changing it ruins the end product.

I hope Kevin Conroy does the voice of Batman in this one. He's perfect for a movie like this, unlike Batman: Gotham Knight which should have used Christian Bale.

agreed. hopefully they can get conroy and tim daly back. and use a better style design-wise. gl and wonder woman movies look great compared to superman: doomsday. they need to get away from the dcau timm designs and come up with something new. i hope they don't go with the mcguiness design. it's too cartoony:yay:.

Actually, the McGuiness design would be perfect for this sorta thing.

thanks for the info

AGREED!

:csad: I strongly disagree. That is the main reason WHY I haven't bought the book. It just isn't appealing to me. Superman looks soo cartoony. I hope they go with a more realistic design, honestly. Sorry.

Oh, and I really liked Superman: Doomsday. The action scenes were awesome. But the movie needed to be a little longer to flesh out the characters a little more. The only things I didn't like were Superman's awful face lines and Lois' voice. Other than that, nice movie. I just wasn't expecting a faithful adaptation from the comicbooks.

I think you might have just described Jeph Loeb's ENTIRE comic writing career :o

But I liked 'Public Enemies' (even though the dialogue is uber-hammy and formulaic) so we'll see...if they bring back Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, Dana Delany and Clancy Brown even better
