YOUNG JUSTICE :TRINITY (1992)

Director : David Lynch
Story: David Lynch directs the third and final installment of the Young Justice series of films , and this time goes for a smaller scale , phycological 3rd act which focuses solely on Bruce, Clark and Diana. Set a year after the events of Young Justice 2, The now early 20 something Bruce, Clark, and Diana ,each find themselves on the eve of fulfilling their separate destinies and becoming the heroes they are meant to be.

They think they know what the future holds , but have decided that the three of them should meet in Europe one last time before going on their separate paths. However, their trip together will become a test of their emotions, their will, and there resolve to continue on their paths to greatness.

Unbeknownst to them, they have one last test. One last chance to turn back. The Spectre will arrive on one emotional night on the Swiss Alps, and present them with 3 ,key ,future foes, who will challenge their resolve. Like Dickens's A Christmas Carol, The Spectre will present them with three Spirits which will challenge the young heroes before they go on their separate paths.

Clark will Meet the psychotic vigilante known as Magog who challenges his world view, and warns him that his naivety will lead to the death of his future wife and to the ruin of humanity.

Bruce will be confronted by a future Andrea Beaumont, who has become the super villain known as The Phantasm. Her pain and drive for vengeance will show Bruce what he could become, and a life he may not have ,if he continues his lonely path to saving Gotham City.

Diana, will be confronted with future nemesis Maxwell Lord, who threatens to push Diana to the limits of her code of ethics and morality. His revelation of the fate they both share will shake her to her emotional core, and will make her question whether she is meant to be one of the galaxies saviors.

This lost weekend will challenge the bond between Clark, Bruce, and Diana, and will determine whether the trinity will emerge stronger than before, or whether their potential futures are too frightening to continue.

The director's various films Brazil, Time Bandits, Baron Munchausen, 12 Monkeys and others will all work as a inspiration. And their visuals are different from each other.

And the second post gives the impression that you could design clothes as well.

For instance, I could totally see Gilliam going with a very faithful , Robin Hood looking Green Arrow , such as John Cleese in Time Bandits

Yet have the world of Star City could like very much like the world of 12 Monkeys

So , Green Arrow's bright costume is in sharp contrast to this dystopian , run down city, and Green Arrow could serve as an inspiration for such a dark world. I'm just speculating since, I've only ever seen Time Bandits .

As for the Hall of Justice, I think one of them was used in the CW Crisis cross over and I think it's a real building in Canada.

Project History: In the wake of the Batman series calculation, William Dozier decides to continue the series via motion pictures. However, it's decided that keeping with the more grounded and more adult approaches of films of the late 60s, that the character should return to its darker roots. So a decision is made to hire Director Sidney Lumet and creator Rod Serling to craft a psychological thriller which incorporates the more pulp aspects of the early Batman comics. As a result, Robin is sent off to college and plays a much smaller supporting role with Batgirl being totally absent. Gone is the campy style of the first film, and in is a more serious take on the Dark Knight myths.

This is truly Batman's story with West , for the first time, truly taking center stage as he's tested by four villains who challenge him physically, mentally and emotionally. Unlike the first film, Lamet and Serling draw on 4 new villains ,as opposed to returning to villains already featured on the show. Serling in particular is drawn to Two Face, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow and Hugo Strange and DC Comics approves the use of those 4.

Robert Stack, of the Untouchables, is cast as Two Face, Bruce's one time best friend for whom , Bruce feels responsible for his life of crime. 60s sex symbol Ann Margret is cast as Poison Ivy who uses her wiles and her poison dust to torture Batman's emotions and drives him to obsession . Psycho actor Anthony Perkins is cast as a creepy as haunting Scarecrow who's toxins evoke Batman's deepest and darkest fears, while Peter Sellars takes a more sinister and sadistic turn as Dr. Hugo Strange who unites the three other villains to destroy the Caped Crusader after discovering that Bruce Wayne and Batman are on in the same.

Rounding out the cast is The Farmer's Daughter actress Inger Stephens as Bruce Wayne's love interest Vicki Vale, while Jack Lemon is cast as dogged reporter Alexander Knox who, like Vale is working relentlessly to discover the Batman's identity.

I think you are right.
You should see some of Gilliam's other films and get more into his visuals. Not only the dystopian stuff but the surreal too

The Hall, the real building, most have been inspiration for its design in the comic books. This is worth looking into.

The Phantom's suit is awesome. It's perhaps one of the best hero tights ever, but it's campy beyound reason.
But so are Captain America, Wonder Woman and Aquaman - and look how that turned out
Next in line is Hawkman, in the upcoming Black Adam.
After that, we're waiting for Phantom to hit the big screen. If it ever happens. WB are holding onto the rights but they don't want to develop any film adaption.

If I get inspired , I'll probably post a new cast for a new film, but for now, I'm enjoying filling out the visuals for these worlds and these casts I've already done .

As far as The Phantom goes, I think he's awesome too. I liked alot of the pulp based hero films of the early 90s, but unfortunately, alot of them didn't go on to ongoing film franchises.

Casting Backstory: To cash in on the growing popularity in teen coming of age films , and to exploit their Superman property even further , Warner Brothers goes directly to John Hughes to direct and write a film about a teenage Clark Kent's sophomore year in High School. Hughes decides to tell the story his own way and sets the film in a different continuity from the Donner films.

During the casting process, Hughes opts to go for an outside the box choice and casts a 6'2, 19 year old, John Cusack in the role of a goofy, awkward , yet loveable Clark Kent who , upon his 16th Birthday, discovers he's actually an alien from another planet, a secret which his parents have kept from him, until now.

To fill out the other teen roles in the cast, he goes to mainstays in his roster such as Molly Ringwald as Clark's schoolboy crush Lana, Judd Nelson as Jock and Bully Brad, Andrew McCarthy as Clark's the fast talking comic relief sidekick Pete Ross , but also adds Kiefer Sutherland as an eerie and devious young Lex Luthor, and Elisabeth Shue portraying the self absorbed and popular Cat Grant.

As young Clark's parents , Hughes casts Teen Wolf actor James Hampton as Johnathan Kent , Academy Award nominated actress Sally Field as Martha Kent, and veteran actor Sean Connery as the Hologram of Jor El.

Hughes rounds out the cast by casting both Timothy Dalton as General Zod and Meg Foster as Ursa , whom, unknown to Clark and the Kents, escape the Phantom zone and come to Smallville searching for the son of Jor -El on Prom Night !

Story: Set in the darkest days of World War 2, Cliff Secord aka, The Rocketeer has gone missing after discovering the Third Reich's devious new plan to invade the United States. The Allied powers suspect that the culprit is General Von Müller, the one time case officer and father figure, to Nazi spy and actor , Neville Sinclair. Howard Hughes and The FBI immediately dispatch their honorary special agent , Dick Tracy ,to recruit a team of like minded patriots to travel to New York and too find Secord and too find out what he discovered. Officially , the mission is off the books and top secret.

Tracy is partnered with Kit Walker, aka The Phantom ,who represents the allied powers on this joint mission. Tracy travels as far west as California and Texas to recruit a descendant of Zorro, A retired silent film actor who played The Gray Ghost, Newspaper editor Britt Reid aka The Green Hornet, The Hornet's partner Kato, and Britt's grandfather ,who at one time ,was The Lone Ranger .

The Phantom heads east to recruit two equally supernatural allies in fellow playboy Lamont Cranston, aka The Shadow, and The Spirit. The ten men meet up in New York as Von Mueller prepares an all out aerial strike on the heart of Manhattan with their stealth, technological advanced fleet of rocket ships , submarines, and airplanes. Now, the fate of the United States rests in the hands of 11 heroes who must stop Von Müller from his plan of global domination !

BRUCE WAYNE AND THE DEMON'S BRIDE (1991)

Story : Lynch's fourth chapter of his Bruce Wayne series finds a 22 year old Wayne in a far away country, under the training of The League of Shadows, and their charismatic leader ,Ra's Al Ghul. Bruce finds himself in over his head among several other young would be assassins and vigilantes in training, including, the shifty Shiva, The fanatical yet dedicated teen they call Bane, a wise cracking billionaire named Oliver, and Ra's naïve yet fierce daughter Talia.

After nearly a year of intense training in the martial arts, deception, and theatricality, it becomes clear that Ra's is not only looking for dedicated foot soldiers , but for a worthy heir to marry Talia. What's more, he clearly favors Bruce for the role. At the same time Bruce and Talia can't deny their mutual attraction which has made the on edge Bane, jealous.

Despite this, Ra's gives all of his young hungry students their first major task on the road to becoming official members of the League of Shadows. That task involves assassinating an international fugitive ,thus proving their comment to justice. Bruce is against murder, but his oath is put to the test once its revealed that the target is Lew Moxon, the mobster who ordered the hit on Thomas and Martha Wayne a decade earlier. Bruce has been searching for Moxon since his days at Gotham prep, wanting to exact vengeance on the man who killed his parents.

However, he now must struggle with his desire to end Moxon , with his commitment to law and order. At the same time, he must stop his fellow students and disobey his sensei Ra's Al Ghul. Bruce must get to Moxon before the rest of the group does, and at the same time, must get past Moxon's trigger happy right hand, a gangster known as Jack Napier. In the end, Bruce will make an enemies on all sides in an effort to stay true to his principles. This time, he's far from Gotham, and he'll need his wits and his training to save himself.

Story: Set in the same universe as Hughes's Smallville trilogy and David Lynch's Bruce Wayne films, in the distant future, Darkseid and his minions have planned an all out invasion of earth, but the Justice League stands in his way. As a result, Steppenwolf and Darkseid decide to hatch a sinister plot to thwart the Justice League once and for all. Steppenwolf decides to use a mother box to travel back in time to 1989 and wipe out the founding members of the League while they are still teens, have yet to become heroes, and have yet to meet each. With the young teens gone, the timeline changes and will leave Earth vulnerable to Darkseid 's Para-demons to take over in the future.

When The Flash gets wind of Steppenwolf's plan , he knows that time is running out and that Steppenwolf stands a very strong chance of killing the JL when they are at they're youngest and most vulnerable. Using the speed force , Barry Allen travels back to 30 years to 1989 to try to warn a goofy farm boy, a brooding rich kid, a naïve young warrior, a cocky naval recruit, and a land dwelling young hothead , that the greatest threat to their lives is coming for them, and that the future of the Earth depends on their survival.

But can Barry convince these teens to get along, unite, and become the heroes they were meant to be, before Steppenwolf arrives to change the course of history?

Yeah, that's totally how I see it too. I wanted to try to find images that were similar to other interpretations of Apokalips , yet were different in other ways.

YOUNG JUSTICE 2 (1991)

Story: Following Steppenwolf's Failure to destroy the Founding members of the Justice League as teenagers , Darkseid takes it upon himself to gather the armies of Parademons and his forces of Apokolips, to travel back 30 years in the past and launch a full scale invasion of earth that will crush the young heroes and change history. Unfortunately, With The Flash stranded in 1991, he is unaware of Darkseid's intention to invade Earth 30 years early.

With the team once again scattered, they must not only find each other across the world again, but recruit new, untested heroes ,to face the greatest threat the world has ever seen, and to take on foe who comes with an army , and who plans to finish ,what was started by Steppenwolf.

The bug design, isn't that a clear sign that he's true evil. Perhaps that's the reason he invades Earth. He wants to turn it into the same wasteland as his home planet. It's not about going after resources.
He just wants to see the world burn.

A couple of pics have tripods (War of the Worlds), especially the one from Smallville.

What can Green Arrow really do here?

What can Green Arrow really do here?

That's how I see it in this sequel. Darkseid travels back in time to take out on overwhelm the younger, more vulnerable, the teen versions of Clark, Bruce, Diana, and the rest of the group, but he also wants to level earth .

It's basically the Terminator franchise concept of destroying the savior in the past so you can excel in the future, though, in this case, Darkseid has decided to bring a whole future army to kill the yet to be JLA members and to decimate the planet ,as opposed to just sending one guy as he did with Steppenwolf. I imagine him basically unleashing everything in terms of his fleet and his creatures .

It's a bitter revenge for being thwarted by the future JLA several times in his timeline, so ,I see it in his mind, as a long time coming type of revenge. Reverse Flash has a similar motivation in the CW Flash show, in that, he's been beaten so many times by the Future Flash, that he gets great satisfaction to defeat the younger and more inexperienced Flash.

As for arrow, I guess it's a bit like the Hawkeye issue in the Avengers films, though ,even more so in this case ,since he's basically a Green Arrow in training, and I see him being like 21 or 22 at this point.

I see young Bruce enlisting his help because he trusts him, and because The Flash has told him he's one of the future members of the Justice League .

Plus, they'll need all the help they can get. I see him basically fighting Parademons on the ground level on the chaotic city streets as opposed to taking on one of one of Darkseid's massive ships are his larger beasts.

It's gonna be an even greater challenge since in this story, the young heroes are each at different parts of the earth when the invasion happens, and they have to reconnect in the midst of this carnage.

It's also compounded by the fact that while Barry was able to warn the group about Steppenwolf in time to stop him, Barry's now stuck in the early 1990s, and doesn't know that Darkseid will bring a full army to the early 90s.

So, our young heroes, and the world are in real pickle, so to speak .
