i think those characters are a mock at the avengers

there was this viking lookin dude who bragged about his heritage and let everyone know his axe was created by GOds.... who does that remind you of?

then there was a super soldier who was the leader of his team and was a good hearted dude...

then there was this girl that could mini-mize herself to bitesize

they there was a girl who could transform into a monstrous behemoth

and a guy who could increase size!

c'mon now

great detective skills there, batman...you seem to have figured out that the Maximums were a parody of the Avengers, and the entire storyline with them was a parody of Avengers Dissasembled...by god, you've gotten the authors intentent, lets all throw a parade in your honor
