DC Relaunching Everything?

Yeah, I remember when I use to be optimistic about comics and life and stuff. Good times. Optimistic times, one could even say

It is totally not in any way their last stand.

Except for manga, selling mangas all day every day

I mean really as long as DC continues to be owned by Warner Brothers and WB continues to make money off DC characters in other media and comics continue to be a whole lot cheaper to produce than those other media, comics will survive in some form.

I don't want comics to be around if the greatest characters in the world are only selling 30,000 copies.

Those costume designs are lousy and that artwork is awful

This relaunch is a truly truly truly stupid idea

But as long as we get the Batwoman ongoing series starring Kate Kane this september I'll be happy. I dont really care how this relaunch affects any other characters

That comic is the only dc comic book I'm planning to buy at the moment

Nothing else dc are publishing sounds interesting to me at all

That's... well, it's a point of view, and I won't even call it an invalid one, but it's still a long way from calling this comics's last stand. If this one doesn't take, there'll be another stand after it a few years down the line.

Print is a dieing medium so if digital doesn't work, comics are screwed.:csad:

Except for manga, selling mangas all day every day

Not to mention, print as a whole has been 'dying' for what, 15 years now? Since back in the late '90s when the newfangled interwebs was drawing interest away from newspapers and books and the kids all wanted to get their music over the Napster rather than on CD. The businesses will change and evolve but, barring a missile strike on Marvel or DC's headquarters, the comics industry will not be wiped out by just one thing. If this digital initiative fails, you know what'll happen? We'll spend another 15 years moaning and wringing our hands as we obsess over sales numbers and wonder why more people don't get into comics. Nothing will change.

We did, I bet. We have that effect on people. Or at least I try to. :oldrazz:

I wake up every day in hopes of infecting at least one more person with my bile-spitting hatred of everything.

Comics made her, hell made us all pessimists. You read em long enough, you come to expect the worse, and are underwhelmed by the best.

Yeah but no in all seriousness it's because reading comics for long enough basically justifies all the pessimism you'd ever care to have.

So basically it's Ultimate DC. Why not call the spade a spade?

I just noticed that Batman has seams on his cowl. WTF Jim Lee, and here i thought you got one of them right.

Oh well, most artists will refuse to draw them just like they refuse to draw the codpiece.

Who the hell reads that trippy stuff?

People so sick of retconny characterkilly superhero comics that they will literally read comics backwards if that's what it takes to get twelve issues' worth of story without some idiot doing a massive 40-series alternate-universe crossover and then resetting the universe.
