DC Solicits for September '09

Maybe they figure it's not really killing since they're corpses anyway. I expect the Blackest Night fights to be pretty gory because of that loophole.

The Blackest Night stuff generally looks good (I'll be getting the main title and GL); I'll be interested to see how the main title interacts with GL and GLC.

It really feels like everything DC is putting out, that isnt written by Johns, Dini or Morrison, is being tailor made to bore the living crap out of me.

Red Tornado?! Must we?

Haha, I got the same feeling. I'm looking forward to a lot of the Blackest Night stuff and Adventure Comics and some of the Batman titles, but everything else I was like, "Why?" We got a streak of good stuff lately--Bart and Conner coming back, the build-up to Blackest Night, the rejuvenation of the Batman line--yet a few months from now when you'd expect everything to keep building on that and return to pre-IC form, the Teen Titans still lack Bart and Conner, JLA still looks mediocre, JSA still seems to be focusing on the second-string cast of millions that Johns added, Magog is reverting to his angsty Kingdom Come template, etc. I'm not excited for much in September so far. Then again, I was excited for even less in August, so I guess that's some improvement.

Teen Titans could be the top selling book for DC right now. There is beaming potential.

Robin
Superboy
Wonder Girl
Kid Flash
Static
Blue Beetle
Miss Martian
Red Devil
Kid Eternity

That's a fantastic line up.

I'm wondering if Pariah or Alex Luthor will play a role in Blackest Night.

It'd be a great way to ground Tim a little bit more rather than having him go all grimdark on us as Red Robin, too. Given how ridiculous he gets after every tragedy, he's gonna develop a reputation as the schizophrenic Bat-sidekick. First, his personality's pretty set as the super-smart detective prodigy (to contrast with Dick's acrobatic, upbeat Robin and Jason's snotty b**** Robin), he's cool with his life, he's got some personal drama from keeping his superheroing secret from his dad, and he firmly wants to do good but not fall into the angst trap and become like Bruce. Then his dad dies and suddenly he loves Bruce more than life and is happy to be adopted by him, even though he initially liked the boundaries between his superhero life and his personal life. Then Conner dies and he goes all mad scientist trying to bring him back. Now Bruce dies and forget whatever he thought of his real father's death, he's blown that level of crazy out of the water with his staunch, myopic denial that Bruce ever actually died in spite of all the evidence. It's like someone at DC decided a few years ago that it'd be fun to see if they could systematically destroy a great character just for kicks.

That turned into more of a rant than I meant it to. :o

Have they actually given the guy in charge of Twisted Toyfare Theater September's issue of Titans

Dont even get me started on this Final Crisis Aftermath stuff. It really looks like pure garbage.

Full solicits are up:

-Are they really going to do the whole, 'Who is it, huh, who is it, huh?' with Batgirl. I hope not, I hate when they don't just reveal who the damn character is in at least the first issue. Oh, what's it matter, not like I'm picking it up anyway.

-Still debating Blackest Night

-Magog is getting an ongoing :/

-I think I'm going to end up picking up Sirens

-Power Girl and Detective Comics still looking good. Still planning to pick up Doom Patrol

-I'm thinking of picking up Wonder Woman after this Rise of whatever-the-****-their-called arc is done.

-Sweet Tooth sounds like one weird ass idea, and I'll probably check it out. Unwritten and Xanadu I'll still be picking up. God, I miss Young Liars already:waa:

So little from DC from me

Those ani-come Batman and Robin figures. Those are some of the worst costume redesigns I have ever seen. :wow::csad:

They look horrid!

Damn. I completely forgot he was Red Robin now. Wow. I remember hearing a solicit of the Bat family meeting the new Superman family, so maybe Connor will be like "Tim, what the **** is your problem? Get the hell over it. This is the life we've chosen. *Hymann Roth*"

On the cover to Blackest Night #3, is that Black Lantern Manitou Raven?

Am wondering over the new Batgirl's identity.

Either him or Master Chief, but probably the former. Just remembered that a ****ton of people died in 52, like Waverider and Frankenstien Junior. Airwave is also dead. So much potential.

-Wednesday Comics will be amazing.

-Basically everything I've seen from Vertigo has been really good, if not great. House of Mystery is really weird and cool. Unknown Soldier is brilliant...I'm really enjoying it.

-Green Lantern has been awesome.

-World of New Krypton, Superman and Supergirl have been consistently good. I'm curious about the new Batgirl. I put it on my pull list, so whatever.

-Wonder Woman...you had me, and then you lost me. Same with Action Comics. Not feeling it.

-Red Tornado? Damn. Good luck with that one. I might actually buy it, because I was obsessed with the character for awhile, as a little kid.

-Doom Patrol sounds exciting. I'll definitely be checking it out. Most people will probably just ignore it, though.

-I should be buying some of this other good stuff, like Booster Gold and Secret Six, but money is a factor.

- Aw, Philip Tan's taking over on Batman and Robin? Not a fan of his work.

- Streets of Gotham sounds great. It'll be nice to see Zsasz actually do stuff in an arc rather than simply be treated as a crazy bogeyman.

- Heh, Doom Patrol is gonna be fun. Definitely picking that up.

- I get that the Secret Six are villains whose loyalties are flexible and all, but is anyone else getting kind of tired of having the team split into factions or apparently turn on each other in every single arc? The book's great otherwise, but that overused plot is starting to bring it down for me. On the plus side, this Daniel Lu Visi guy looks like the next Adi Granov. Gorgeous cover.

- What's going on in Strange Adventures? I thought Comet was the original Captain Comet.

- Yay, Wonder Woman's finally gonna fight that dude that's been a running subplot for like 7 months now. I don't know, this just doesn't seem to be giving me what I want out of a Wonder Woman comic lately. I think I may drop it.

- Wildcats sounds great. It's been a really fun sleeper comic so far. I'm assuming it's a sleeper because no one ever seems to talk about it and comic websites rarely seem to review it. It'll probably be canceled in another few months, but for the moment it's good.

- Man, North 40 sounds crazy. I'm looking forward to that series.

- Luna Park sounds interesting. I'll probably wait for a paperback edition, though.

- Sweet Tooth also sounds interesting. I liked Lemire's Essex County books, so I'll give Sweet Tooth a try.

- DMZ is still good, but I'm not sure about where it's going. The book's taken on a different tone since Parco was introduced and it seems like Matty's setting himself up for a fall. Still, the journey is sure to be interesting.

- I wonder if the Madame Xanadu series will end when she reaches the present or start jumping around in time rather than progressing through it.

- Whoa, why is there no Northlanders solicitation? I hope it's just delayed, not canceled.

:facepalm

I know, I know...I'll most likely catch them in TPB form at some point. I'm just naturally going to be more interested in the launch or relaunch of a character that I'm more familiar with than jumping into the middle of a series featuring characters I'm less familiar with.
