Do we know when the embargo is up?

May 11th at 9AM. Press screenings in the US are happening on May 10th. I believe there will be press screenings in Europe on May 8th-9th but I'm not 100% certain about the European dates.

So by this time next week (if not sooner) we should have a general indication of the quality.

Apparently, Jeremy Conrad is saying May 15th is when the review embargo will lift.

I saw that and reached out to a journalist who saw the movie in Mexico and they said that Fox did not give them an updated embargo date so for them it is still May 11th. So I am going to go with the date given to people who have actually seen the film already.

The review embargo date in the US is May 14th at 8 pm PST. I don't know anything about the social media embargo, though.

I was just coming here to say the same thing. I am going to ask that reporter if he meant May 11th was a social media embargo or a review embargo.

So far I have seen May 11th, may 15th, May 14th....so I have no idea what is going on. But I did see someone tweet out their invite and it says Embargo is on the 14th.

I'll let you guys know what that reporter tells me about whether it is simply social media or review.
*Editing to say that the reporter just confirmed to me that the SOCIAL MEDIA embargo is for May 11th. Review embargo is for the 14th

I apologize for any confusion or misleading info I may have put out there.

They really should use that.

This may be the only R rated movie I actually will give parents a pass with letting their kids see. If they can handle it let them enjoy, so long as they shut the **** up.

I had surprisingly a lot of kids in my screening of the first Deadpool. Actually each time I went (3 different occasions) there was a decent number of kids in the theater lol They didnt act out or anything so I didnt think it was a big deal. I have no idea why but kids love Deadpool lol But like you said as long as they aren't like acting out or whatever I really don't care.

Fox does this with all of their movies. These are local press screenings that they're filling to capacity. It's why the movie shows during the afternoon rather than at 7-7:30.

I knew you would reply. Was just being a bit salty. :cwink:

But I have a really good feeling about the movie (because of what I've seen from the trailers, the creative team and the fact that they've got David Leitch to take over from Tim Miller), so I'm not worried in the least.

I'm actually really curious to see how they'll handle the embargo with fans. Social media is embargoed until the next day, but there's no way the fans who go will stay quiet.

Which could be smart on Fox's part. If critical reaction isn't great (I only know of one person who's seen the final cut and he didn't particularly like the first, either), glowing fan reviews would be a clever way of heading that off.

You cant keep fans quiet lol I mean not at the level that they have them going to the screenings at. But I didnt know those were press screenings. I thought the 4:30 PM start times were a little odd so now it makes sense.

Regardless the critic reactions (I believe its still May 11th but don't quote me on that) will eventually come out and they'll hold more weight in the minds of most folks. Unless what you're saying is that glowing fan reviews could sway the mind of a critic into giving the film a pass or something?

Edit: So my friend snagged a pair so I am gonna try and see it this Thursday. I'll let you guys know what I think about it personally and how the general reaction was at my screening/if there were any comments made about it.

Going to be honest and say Im a little worried about the reviews, I know the rumours of the poor test screenings were debunked but its a concern. The way the first one came together in such a weird and unique way it may be asking a little much for lightning like that to strike twice. Hopefully I'm way wrong though as there's nothing in the trailers that particularly concerns me but then good trailers of bad films have been made many a time.

At least the marketing and the surrounding stuff has been just as fun as last time if nothing else.

It could be end up well recieved but i still do expect abit of backlash from some fans.

I think alot of fans took way more from the first Deadpool movie then what the bigger picture was really offering, but now they are being more ambitious they will probably end up in more sensitive areas due to the high expectation.

Yeah the whole Tim Miller thing will make it harder for fans to accept possibly, not so much critics but it will be a thing if the film does take a dip from the first in their eyes, we shall see I guess on that front.

Comedy sequels are an often rarer thing to be as good as/better than the first than normal sequels, will the Reynolds schtick last for another movie?

But at least from the trailers there looks like "some" things will be very good, so thats a big positive at the moment, this bit is always the hardest before a films release.Ha.

The immediate comparisons that come to mind are Kingsman TGC & GOTG Vol 2.
One is somehow less violent + has off-putting CG thrown in with an ok story.
The other has long stretches of characters not really doing anything because there isn't much of a plot.

General rule of thumb is that if a different director takes over a series, nowadays as it wasn't the case before, we're in for a treat.

Personally I'm kind of glad that they went with a different director. Not because Tim Miller is bad or anything but it's always nice to get a different perspective. Just because a director returns to direct the sequel doesn't mean that the sequel is going to be good.

Everything that I've seen from this film in terms of the trailers and marketing has been on point. Does that mean the movie is going to be great? I have no idea. It could be just another Age of Ultron or whatever. But nothing I've seen has led me to believe that the movie is a mess.

Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin are on The Graham Norton Show next Friday. I cannot wait!

I like Age of Ultron MUCH more than the original.
