Doctor Strange wins, hands down. Better writing, effects, etc. Deadpool does well with its humor, but that's the only thing that seemed the least bit interesting about it.

That said, the two are so different that you can barely compare them. It's like comparing Spectacular Spider-Man to South Park.

Not sure about that myself, but we will never know. I doubt any of us will remember to do a poll in a years time.

I think Deadpool as a character is more in the publics conscious than Strange though. And you could say that us a success of the movie. Even my nephews who haven't seen Deadpool because they are too young to know who he is after the movie came out.

These polls can be weird. Posters here were giving FF, FF:ROTS, X:TLS, X:WO, BvS and SS like 10/10 or 5/5s.

Here, you almost have a 2 to 1 vote. It's not like it was 50/50. Of course you're more of a bigger fan of DP than most people here, you even voted it over CW.

However, I brought up earlier that I think that a new poll of TWS vs. DOFP might not be as close anymore so who knows.

How are we to say which character is more prominent in the public conscious in general? I would think Deadpool is more well known regardless of the movie. If we asked a few average joe's walking down the street 3 years ago, I bet more would know Deadpool. If we asked 12 years ago, well before X-Men Origins: Wolverine, he'd still probably have more recognition than Dr. Strange. Of course, the movie certainly helped expand this exposure but Deadpool wasn't quite "Ant-Man"-level before.

He was only created a couple decades ago. He was a high profile character at the time and a majority of the time since. He has had a book on the shelf more consistently than Strange. He's starred in his own video game from Activision. Let alone the instantly recognizable mask.

Dr. Strange shows up every now and then in guest appearances. To my knowledge he's had one monthly series that lasted 12 issues, besides this latest volume, in the last 15 years since I've been reading Marvel consistently. He was in Spider-Man: The Animated Series for a few episodes.

I think a casual Marvel fan would know Deadpool and plenty of other X-Men before Stephen Strange. Besides how can we compare public conscious of two characters when one's movie has been out for almost a year and the latter has been out less than a month?

I think if you asked a couple of GA (average joe) they wouldn't know either of them if they tripped up over them.

After that marketing campaign I bet quite a few "average joes" know Deadpool. He appeared everywhere.

Deadpool and it's not even remotely close. Outside of some of visuals, Strange is a relatively boring movie to me. All good actors, but I wasn't interested in any of the characters, or what the story was about. The "I'm here to make a deal" scene fell flat on it's face for me, I thought it was very anti-climatic and honestly, pretty dumb. Outside of the visuals, nothing caught my interest in terms of the story or characters. I found myself tuning out of the movie quite a few times due to a lack of interest in what was going on.

Deadpool on the other hand, had me hooked from the opening credits. The ending could have been done alittle better but it was entertaining and I was interested in the story and characters pretty much instantly. From a "technical film making" standpoint I guess I could see why people would prefer Strange, but from an entertainment standpoint Deadpool blows it out of the water IMO.

Yeah I was about to say something similar, although you appear to like Deadpool more than me. I don't think Deadpool blows Strange out of the water in any capacity, but the main appeal there is how fun the movie is. Strange is a better crafted story and more satisfying experience overall in my eyes, but I won't fault anyone for loving Deadpool.

Loved both immensely for different reasons but give a slight edge to Deadpool.

Dr. Strange is better on a technical level, but Deadpool stands out more.

So you're saying that both Deadpool and Doctor Strange, whom will have both made well over $700 million when it's all said and done wouldn't be recognizable to the GA? Even though they out-performed Spider-Man (one of the world's most popular characters) in his last two solo outings?

Doctor Strange is really in the lead, eh? I saw it last night and found it pretty meh, personally. Objectively, it was a very well done movie and the performances were very solid. But for me, it has nothing on Deadpool.

Exactly, both will be well known now by the GA.

Especially Deadpool considering people like Chris Brown and Taylor Swift even went as Deadpool for Halloween, the latter of whom obtained the actual costume from Ryan Reynolds. No way in hell they aren't known to the average joe by now.

Voted for the wrong film...I meant to give it to DS not DP.
