so i wanna start reading up on deadpool. i need some good issues/arcs to start on. what'ya suggest?

Well the Circle Chase was what got me into him, but also you should check out his old monthly. The arc that won me over was the Mithras one, but I'm sure other people can recommend some good specific issues.

Joe Kelly's run was pretty hillarious/awesome. After McGuiness left the series started to get a little boring, IMO but the first few story arcs were some of the best Deadpool to date. Issue #11 is the funniest comic that I've ever read of any genre.

If you want to go back a bit farther there are a few minis out there that are pretty good. Nicieza and Mads have one called "The Circle Chase" mentioned above by dais. There are a few others that aren't bad.

If you like Deadpool a lot, I would read Agent X's 13 issue run (I think it was 13 anyway). It's basically the exact same thing as Deadpool, just a different concept and storyline. Gail Simone did the first story arc or two and she did a really great job, then some other writers like Daniel Way came aboard and it wasn't that great. But then Gail Simone finished out the series with a story that included Deadpool and it was pretty good.

Then you have Cable & Deadpool, written by Fabien Nicieza which goes to #50. I got pretty far along the way but dropped the title before 50 because it pretty much loss direction and interest after the first two or three story arcs.

But don't get me wrong, the first couple arcs were pure gold, IMO. I think up until Zircher left it was at least pretty decent, but after that the art started to suck and the story was just kinda mediocre.

The new series written by Daniel Way is coming out in September so you have that to look foward to. The art looks pretty damn good and I have high hopes for it.

Don't get your hopes up for anything written by Dan Way, trust me.

But ya, if you wanna get into DP, start with his own series that was written by Joe Kelly. You can't go wrong.

I suggest you don't bother. Single handedly the most overrated comic book character ever created.

I suggest you DO bother AlterEgo, even if SOME people think Deadpool is...underrated. Theres a trade out called Deadpool vs the marvel universe, and its pretty good.

Deadpool is a great character and I found that Cable and Deadpool was really enjoyable, I still haven't read the last arc yet but the rest of the series is great

There is no way you can make any argument as to Deadpool being underrated. NO WAY. He shouldn't even be rated.

I agree with this. Kelly's run was hilarious. Everything else... eh. Daniel Way's almost certain to f*** Deadpool up, too. That's what Way does.

It isn't even just Way's writing that will kill the series, it's also Steve Dillon's artwork. Seriously, his characters have absolutely no depth to them whatsoever. Everyone looks like a cardboard cutout.

Ah, but Dillion won't be doing the artwork after all, it's someone else. :

Deadpool #1 -- 48 PGS./Parental Advisory …$3.99
Deadpool #2 -- 32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$2.99

They had some interior art for this in the solicts. It was really good, enough that I am so very glad Dillion ultimately didn't end up on this book as was rumored. It looks a lot like the regular Deadpool books of old. :D

I love Medina's work

What else has Way done? Y'all don't seem to be to thrilled with this guy.

The only good thing he's ever written was Bullseye's Greatest hits and That Bullseye versus Punisher. The Latter was just okay but the former was damn good. Everything else was Meh to total s**t. Though, I dug the first few issues of his GR.

Actually I think Way's run on (Wolverine) Origins started out slow but he's got my full attention now. He's not that bad. :)

I rather like Daken and the idea of Romulus. I can't wait to see how all that plays out.

Oh, well then if you like that, I gotta go to the bathroom and drop a wicked deuce. Want me to take a picture and scan it for you? :)

See if you can get the Deadpool and Death Annual 98 comic, which basically shows you a lot of Wade's history

whoops, I meant to say overrated...whatever. I don't get how you think Deadpool is overrated? Everybody I get to read him ends up lovin him, nobody I know has read him and been like"wow this comic was shallow blah blah blah".
please explain how DP is overrated.

Then the people you know have zero taste.

An excellent read! I highly reccomend this since it shows there's more to Wade than just zany humor, he's got depth.

That's kinda the same deal here too. I've introduced the character to people that haven't even read comic books before and they've totally loved Wade, due to his zany pop culture references, his anti hero attitude and basically his troubles with his own sanity.

But eh, it's a matter of taste I suppose. Deadpool is the Marvel's marmite.

What do you introduce them to? Kelly's run? That's what won me over, but I haven't really been able to get into anything with Deadpool since Tieri took over and ran the book into the ground.

hey what happened to the rest of this thread? The bit where Darthphere and Greedlantern were name calling
