Tommie Earl Jenkins also joins the cast.

Kojima Productions debuted a new trailer for Death Stranding featuring a new character portrayed by Troy Baker, as well as revealed artwork for another new character played by Tommie Earl Jenkins during a special stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2018.

New artwork for previously announced characters were also revealed.

Here are all the characters thus far:

Troy Baker’s Character (voiced by Satoshi Mikami in the Japanese dub)

Tommie Earl Jenkins’ Character (voiced by Akio Ootsuka in the Japanese dub)

Mads Mikkelsen’s Character (Japanese voice actor still a secret)

Guillermo del Toro’s Character (voiced by Akihiko Ishizumi in the Japanese dub)

Lindsay Wagner’s Character (voiced by Kikuko Inoue in the Japanese dub)

Lea Seydoux’s Character (voiced by Nana Mizuki in the Japanese dub)

Norman Reedus’ Character (voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda in the Japanese dub)

Death Stranding is in development for PlayStation 4. A release date has yet to be announced.

Death Stranding was announced at E3 2016 and two and a half years later we still have no idea what this title actually is. Director Hideo Kojima revealed that Death Stranding won't feature easy, obvious answers, but it would be really nice to learn what Bridges' (played by Norman Reedus) mission actually is, and more importantly, why babies seem to be the main theme of Death Stranding.

The recent Tokyo Game Show 2018 saw the release of a brand new trailer for Kojima Productions' first game and introduced us to Troy Baker's mysterious character, nicknamed "The Man in The Golden Mask," as he, as the name suggests, wears a golden mask which gives him the ability to summon (?) black goo (?) and then transform it (?) into an enormous black beast (?) that also wears a golden mask.

During the Argentina Game Show 2018, Baker revealed that Death Stranding "is a huge game. The scope of the game is huge. If you know anything about Kojima, he doesn’t do small. It’s weird, and it’s big.” The Uncharted: A Thief's End actor was also deeply impressed by Kojima’s ability to envision the entire project in his head, down to the smallest details. Sadly, Baker doesn't have a clue when the title is coming out, be just like the majority of players, would love to finally check it out on his own.

One thing is certain, as Kojima has managed to assemble an impressive cast, including Guillermo del Toro, Norman Reedus, and Mads Mikkelsen. The E3 2018 trailer confirmed that Léa Seydoux (Spectre, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) and Lindsay Wagner (Nighthawks, The Bionic Woman) will also have major roles in Death Stranding. Kojima Productions' Death Stranding is easily one of the most anticipated video games potentiallyreleasing this year. But while most gamers were waiting for an official release date to be announced, the developers at Guerrilla Games, who are responsible for acclaimed titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, were shown a gameplay demo for Death Stranding.

No details on the what was shown to the developers have been revealed, but whatever was displayed led many of the folks in attendance to respond with some superlatives that should make eager fans even more anxious for the game's release.

Among the extremely positive reactions to the demo, was Guerrilla Games' Mathijs de Jonge, who sent out a Tweet to express his feelings: "Very impressive what we saw today, left me speechless."

Meanwhile, lead combat designer Dennis Zopfi also responded, saying, "Can't stop thinking about what I saw today. . .intriguing, beautiful, touching, mysterious, amazing, artistic, thrilling, engaging, inspiring, masterful."

While Death Stranding may be the work of Kojima Productions, Decima Engine, a creation of Guerrilla Games, was used in the game, so sharing some gameplay was a nice gift from Kojima to the company that helped make their game a reality.

Renowned voice-actor Troy Baker recently took to Twitter (@TroyBakerVA) to take part in a current trend: The #TenYearChallenge. The popular hashtag sees participants post a picture of themselves from a decade ago beside a recently taken one. Even Sonic The Hedgehog has taken part.

Baker, being a voice-actor of many popular characters, decided to post pictures of his roles rather than of himself. Ten years ago, that being 2009, Baker played Snow in Final Fantasy XIII and thus that character stands beside the 2019 picture... which is of the mysterious "Man With The Golden Mask" from, Hideo Kojima's highly-anticipated and equally mysterious upcoming game, Death Stranding.

A release date for Death Stranding hasn't been officially announced yet and thus this is evidently a pretty blatant tease on Baker's part. A 2019 release for Death Stranding is all but confirmed at this point, as this is far from the first time it has been suggested.

Just last month, the game's director mentioned 2019 being "the year of the whale" - an animal that has featured prominently in Death Stranding's trailers - and the game's star Norman Reedus stated that he thinks the game will release in early 2019. And in November; a Walmart listing claimed that Death Stranding would release in June.

would be something if it did release in 2019. feels like it will be one of the PS4's last big AAA exclusives.

Hideo Kojima discussed Death Stranding during a talk at Tribeca Film Festival 2019 in New York today.

Here are the notable tidbits, via ResetEra user Cerium who attended the event:

Kojima reiterated that Death Stranding is an open-world action game, while emphasizing that it will bring something new to the genre.

Kojima used the internet as a metaphor to say that connection will be a big theme in Death Stranding. The player will be alone—there is solitude—but they will be trying to connect.

In both the gameplay and story, “connection” will be key. Everyone will be connected. Kojima was visibly enthusiastic about this.

Kojima could not say much more as not to conflict with publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment: “I don’t want to be disconnected from Sony.”

Kojima added that, ‘To connect is the same as disconnecting in a way; is connecting correct? Is it better to disconnect?’ He wants players to think about this theme in their own lives and in the world (he mentioned dating and European politics as examples).

Kojima said it is difficult to tell a story in an open-world game because you have to balance player freedom—freedom of movement—with the plot. You have to go in a certain direction to learn more about the story, but Kojima also wants players to feel like they are making the choice to do so.

Kojima talked about working with Hollywood actors. While he can create 100 percent of what he wants with mere CG, that limits him to what is in his head. Real actors, on the other hand, can surprise him with added depth. He said he cannot go back to the days before motion capture.

Norman Reedus, who plays protagonist Sam, said that players will cry when playing the game. You will get emotionally invested.

Kojima said he wants to create games until he dies.

Kojima said we might see more of Death Stranding in a month or so. (Maybe.)
