WHAT IF? SPIDER-MAN: HOUSE OF M
Written by SEAN MCKEEVER & FRANK TIERI
Penciled by DAVE ROSS, & BRIAN HABERLIN
Cover by TERRY DODSON & JORGE MOLINA
Gwen Stacy meant everything to Peter Parker...and then she was gone, murdered by the Green Goblin. When the Scarlet Witch shifted reality in HOUSE OF M, Peter got to live the dream of marrying Gwen and raising a son...but soon that, too, was gone. But what would happen if Gwen didn't vanish along with the rest of the HOUSE OF M? In other words, WHAT IF GWEN STACY SURVIVED THE HOUSE OF M? In the first feature, questions about what would happen between Gwen and Peter, between Peter and Mary Jane, and, indeed, what would happen to reality itself are answered as only Sean McKeever (Teen Titans) can. Joining him are Dave Ross (AVENGERS WEST COAST) with paints by Jorge Molina (X-MEN: MANIFEST DESTINY - NIGHTCRAWLER). Guest-starring THE NEW AVENGERS, DOCTOR STRANGE and VILLAINS GALORE! In the second feature, Peter Parker returns home from the House of M reality -- but he’s not alone. Gwen and Richie have made the trip as well -- along with something far more problematic. Far more sinister. And it will threaten to destroy not only himself and his loved ones, but everything Spider-Man stands for! “WHAT IF GWEN & RICHIE PARKER EXISTED OUTSIDE OF HOM?” by Frank Tieri (EXCALIBUR) and Brian Haberlin (Spawn). Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).
48 PGS./One-Shot/Rated T+ ...$3.99

How quick does Marvel "trade" their mini's? I've decided that I have to get Amazing in single issues. But I try to wait for the trade when it comes to minis. But I can't wait too long to read the Clone Saga and Spider-man noir.

Dammit, why can't they keep Sandman a good guy? Besides the Prowler who was never really a villain, he was the only one of Spidey's rogues to reform that I truly believed in and thought it in character (unlike say, Venom or that terrible "Get Kraven" Kraven). He had been good for almost two decades, had a reason to be good for his sick mom, had a great chemistry with Silver Sable and Spidey and then John Byrne started this mess with his awful relaunch issue where the Sandman claims he was evil all along and his thought-bubbles about being a hero were lies to the reader (...uhm..). I thought Peter David had undone the damage and made him good again when he appeared in 'Friendly' a couple years ago, but I guess they can't put the genie back in the bottle. Dammit. And they make it sound like he does something REALLY bad this time, that's unredeemable. Really unhappy about that solicit. :csad:

I've always thought the Sandman was a legit threat... Marvel Two-In-One #85 really shows a "human" side, which was the begining of his turn to good, but his character just plays off better as the villain... imo.

:yay:

Villains turned heroes is always a dumb idea. (Magneto being the absolute worst of the worst) I'm psyched to see Sandman be all villain again, but part of me is a little afraid of what they'll have Sandman do to legitimize this. Spider-Man 3 anyone?

Villains turned heroes is always a dumb idea.

What about Hawkeye? Or Quicksilver? Or Wonder-Man? What about the Thunderbolts???

Okay, maybe the track-record for villains-turned-heroes hasn't always been great, but people do reform in real life and since Marvel prides itself on its realism and character growth I liked the fact that Sandman became good. He never seemed completely amoral like Vulture, Chameleon, Electro...

On another note, is this link not working for anyone else? For me, it just shows a picture of a Sandman/Spidey banner and then... nothing. It doesn't scroll down. I'd like to see the covers.

At work, using Internet Explorer, I was getting the same thing.

At home, using Firefox, the link works.

What is this clone saga thing? Is this a new take on their mistakes? I'm confused.

It's the Clone Saga how it was originally supposed to be told, before it got out of hand.

Actually, Alyosha Kravinoff was retconned before that. It was actually the Vulture who temporarily reformed in Get Kraven. That didn't last, obviously.

Actually, his return to villainy was explained in a backup story by Tom Brevoort, where the jealous Wizard used his ID machine on Sandman.

Yeah, that story was so memorable, how could I ever forget? :whatever:

Right. It took someone else to clean up John Byrne's mess. The explanation still sucked (ID Machine? lmao gotta be kidding me) but at least it was an explanation.

I have a good memory.:oldrazz:

I prefer that over than him just changing his mind, that explanation sucked more.

Well, I may get Web of Spider-Man....I'm not sure. I love reading Mayday's adventures, but this skipping her from book to book crap is getting old. I may just wait and hope they collect them. Buying a 4 dollar book when I only enjoy 12-18 pages of it is getting old. It's better than paying the 5 bucks I was paying for Spider-Man Family, but at least that had some cool reprints in it.

So, I guess, nothing for me.:csad:
