Sci-Fi Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Messiah

Looks like Greig Fraser is staying for The Batman 2 this spring.

Linus is a good pick tho.

The initial reaction that Villeneuve had to get a new cinematographer was that of slight disappointment, but then I realized I had a similar reaction when Denis wasn't going to continue to work with Deakins for Dune, and we of course still got absolute top quality cinematography there. I'm sure it will be the same again.

Gonna miss Fraser but we'll be in good hands with Linus Sandgren. La La Land, Babylon and No Time To Die are all great looking films.

I'm more bumped that he didn't get Deakins (again) than not having Fraser back, but Sandgren is an amazing get and Villeneuve surely knows how to bring out the very best out of all of his cinematographers.

Also I like the idea of changing the style, since Denis wants Messiah to feel like a very different thing to the first two Dune films, and if it means him shooting on film that would be even more amazing!

I am eager to see exactly how different Villeneuve intends for the film’s look to be.

Well, if he follows the timeline of the book it’s a decade later and Arrakis has changed quite a bit in that time.

lol my God, Denis… Facebook?

I still think it's mostly WB pressuring him to not lose momentum but I trust that he wouldn't do it if he didn't think he could do an equally great job with this one as well!

Yeah, I was kind of hoping he’d do something in between and give it a bit more time especially since Paul ages a decade. It’d be fun to see the actors actually being noticeably older.

And I want to see Rendezvous with Rama, damn it!

Damn, thats quick. Not complaining.

I’m sure there are seedlings of plans for Dune beyond Villeneuve, but I seriously doubt that they would already be approaching anyone before they’ve even gotten this show on the road where Messiah is concerned.

I really interested to see how Denny handles the Chani/Paul/Irulan dynamic because he really turned it on its head with how he handled the second movie from the book.

I'm sure Legendary and Brian Herbert are already scouting talent.

In my dreams it's del Toro doing the next one.
