Denis Villeneuve's 'ARRIVAL'

First announced in late 2012, FilmNation Entertainment and Lava Bear Films' adaptation of Ted Chiang's short tale Story of Your Life has, according to The Hollywood Reporter, found a director in Prisoners and Incendies helmer Denis Villeneuve.

Featuring an adapted screenplay by Eric Heisserer (The Thing, A Nightmare on Elm Street), Story of Your Life was originally going to be directed by commercials director Nic Mathieu. Based on Chiang's award-winning short story, the film takes place after aliens land around the globe and follows a linguist who is recruited by the US government in a race to decipher their intentions on Earth.

The film will be produced by 21 Laps' Shawn Levy and Dan Levine with FilmNation�s Aaron Ryder and Karen Lunder. Lava Bear�s David Linde, Tory Metzger, FilmNation�s Glen Basner and Eric Heisserer will executive produce.

I watched Enemy at TIFF and it was pretty terrible IMO. Very, very abstract and Villeneuve wouldn't throw the audience a bone regarding the storyline of the film. Not to mention, Gyllenhaal had no idea what the film was about hahaha. It was an odd experience.

I am in love with Prisoners though.

Amy Adams in Talks for Sci-Fi Thriller Story of Your Life

Amy Adams is in early talks to team with Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve on Story of Your Life, reports Deadline.

Based on an award-winning short story by Ted Chiang, Story of Your Life is said to be a mind-bending science fiction thriller. After aliens land around the globe, a linguist is recruited by the US government in a race to decipher their intentions on Earth.

The script was written by Eric Heisserer, who is also executive producing. FilmNation Entertainment, in partnership with Lava Bear Films, is financing, producing and handling worldwide sales for the project. The producers are 21 Laps� Shawn Levy and Dan Levine along with FilmNation and Lava Bear.

It's a done deal Amy Adams will star in the film and it's headed to Cannes.

Denis Villenueve's sci-fi thriller Story of Your Life, starring Amy Adams, is headed for the Croisette.

Adams' deal has closed in time for Glen Basner's FilmNation to presell the movie at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

This is supposed to be a sci fi thriller about aliens landing/ first contact but I have to say I'd change the title for the film this doesn't sound like one.

That's great to hear and with Denis directing this film it makes me more excited.

You can actually read the original story on PDF format. I read it a few months back and it's not your typical sci-fi story.
