Any depeche mode fans out there? I was surprised to hear one of there older songs in the store the other day. Also anyone think they compare to Muse?

I like a few of their songs, but they dont compare to Muse... at all.

Bah, I can't stand any depeche mode aside from that acoustic one they do, "Dream On".

Other wise, forget it.

Awww...Why Not?
I love their music. One Caress is my favorite. Would it be fair to say they were the first of there genera?

I like Muse as well but I do agree they don't compare to them.

I will give them credit. Good musicians. Big impact in the 80's. I just can't stand it. Never could...and then thats what my ex fiance ALWAYS listened to. Them and Stabbing Westward.....

BARF!

My favorite songs from Depeche Mode are Precious and Dream On.

I am not so much a fan of there new album compared to there old stuff.

Lol..makes me wish I was old enough in the 80's to go to their concerts...too young born in 1988.

I think they have some great lyrics too!

Martin Gore is hands down one of the greatest songwriters living right now. The man can write a melody like nobody's business.

They're alright, great lyrics. All the music elitist hipsters LOVE THEM though.

BTW, Lacuna Coil did a great cover of "Enjoy the Silence" not too long ago.

From the band's official website:

Depeche Mode have announced the track listing for their eagerly anticipated 12th studio album 'Sounds Of The Universe', released April 20th, on Mute. The release is preceded by their stunning new single ‘Wrong’, out April 6th - the first single to be taken from the album.

'Sounds Of The Universe' marks a reunion between Depeche Mode and Ben Hillier, who previously produced their 2005 album 'Playing The Angel'. Eclectic and energised, the band's new LP was recorded in Santa Barbara and New York.

'Sounds Of The Universe' Track Listing

1. In Chains
2. Hole To Feed
3. Wrong
4. Fragile Tension
5. Little Soul
6. In Sympathy
7. Peace
8. Come Back
9. Spacewalker
10. Perfect
11. Miles Away / The Truth Is
12. Jezebel
13. Corrupt
Stay tuned for more details on the release of 'Sounds Of The Universe'.

I've always liked Depeche Mode but didn't listen to them nearly as much as I do now when I was younger.
I think musically and lyrically they are far superior to most other 80s new wave bands.
As for the muse comparison, I never really noticed any similarity, though I'm not really a fan of muse so.

I love DM and really like Muse, but I wouldn't compare them.

One thing about DM is that, at least imo, they just keep getting better and better with each album. Although Songs of Faith and Devotion is still my fav.

I might end up going to the listening party for their new album while I'm in NYC this weekend.

I was surprised to hear one of there older songs in the store the other day.

I have accepted the fact that I'm getting old due to hearing so much of the music of my youth played over the speakers at grocery stores.

I never expected to hear The Smiths, Depeche Mode or The Cure while shopping at Publix, but now it happens all the time. :csad:

New DM single.

Looks like he's lip-syncing so I'm guessing that is actually the studio version. I haven't really listened to Depeche Mode in years, and have probably only listened to Playing the Angel a handful of times but this definitely piqued my interest.

I LOVE depeche mode...great music :woot:

Depeche Mode is one of the favorite bands... and there's no way Muse can even compare even though I like Muse as well.

I think Muse is nearly as good as DM but in a much different way. I don't think they can be compared though. It's like the whole apples and oranges thing.
