Just one day after it was revealed that he'll be drafting a remake of Flight of the Navigator for Walt Disney Pictures, Variety reveals that Safety Not Guaranteed screenwriter Derek Connolly is working on a film for Disney•Pixar that will be directed by Teddy Newton, the man behind the short film "Day and Night."

Details are, at this stage, very few, but Connolly tells the trade that he's been instructed to write as though he's telling a story for adults rather than kids, specifically.

Following the June 21, 2013 release of Dan Scanlon's Monsters University, Disney•Pixar's upcoming slate includes Bob Peterson and Peter Sohn's The Good Dinosaur on May 30, 2014, Pete Docter's Untitled Disney•Pixar Inside The Mind Film on June 19, 2015 and the still-undated Untitled Disney•Pixar About Dia de los Muertos from Lee Unkrich and Finding Nemo sequel from Andrew Stanton.

All the stuff post-Monsters Uni sound ambitious especially the Day of the Dead one. This one could be a winner too.

I think Pixar hit a few hurdles with Cars 2, and having too many sequels in one time frame. It's NOT that they're doing sequels but its all done close to each other, excluding Toy Story 3 and filling like filler until they can come up with original stuff.
