keep on burning fossil fuel and polluting, nothing will happen ever!
no scientific proof of anything woooooo! everything lasts forever! nothing impacts nothing!!!!!!

gawd! just please let the sun implode and get this over with.

I guess 30 years from now when tech is even more advanced, we'll discover that the earth was just fine. :yay:

I'll bet we will. hold on to that dream, In thirty years there will be no fossil fuel left anyway, so it won't really be an issue.
the issue will be "where do i get my water rations".

Didn't they say that back in 1975??

nope, they said however that New York was going to be a prison colony.
but that was just Clilve Barker, and we don't pay much attention to him anymore.

I was just reading about this today. The Sun sends out Solar Wind. The Solar Wind particles go in Earth's direction. Now, we have two defenses against it. 1: A magnetic field around the Earth; 2: Our O-Zone layer.

Often, the Solar Wind can pass through the magnetic field. This leaves us with our O-Zone layer. When the Solar Wind hits the O-Zone, the O-Zone shields us. The Solar Wind's impact with the O-Zone then causes a collision at the poles (near the axis), and the Auroras are formed. However, because of our polluting, the O-Zone is starting to develop holes. When the Solar Winds hit the Earth, they go through the O-Zone layer (at the poles), and cause the ice to melt. This is obvious. Heat from Sun + Ice = Melted Water. This then causes a global flood.

Let's review.

1: The Sun is hot.
2: The Sun shoots out Solar Winds.
3: Solar Winds hit Earth.
4: O-Zone and Magnetic Field protect Earth.
5: We are destroying O-Zone layer (pollution causes O-Zone to turn into Oxygen. This breaks our O-Zone layer).
6: The Solar Winds, which usually hit our O-Zone (and therefore cause the Auroras), are now passing through the holes in the O-Zone and hitting the ice caps.
7: ICE MELTS!
8: Global flood occurs. Earth is forever changed.

By the way, radiation causes cancer. The Solar Winds give off radiation (think 100 chest x-rays happening at the same time to each person). The O-Zone once protected us from the UV rays, but the radiation is now passing through and we have suddenly increased our chances of developing cancer by a tremendous amount.

Cancer! It is good!

Whoever believes this quote must also not take true science seriously. We have all of the evidence to prove the facts above, and yet people still aren't going to listen. It just shows how ignorant some people are.

wait a second, if it's supposed to be getting cooler, then howcome in my hometown every summer we're setting a "new record high"?
i mean, it's not normal for a city whos high used to be 98-99 every year to now be getting up to 108-110?!?!

I'm pretty sure they mean more extreme climates. Like... colder winters and warmer summers.

Global Warming will hit Two Days before the Day After Tommorow.

Oh My God!! That's Today.:wow: :wow:

i was told there'd be no math on this test.:o

I am convinced that the earth will rid itself of us and that Agent Smith was correct--we really do act like a virus.

Actually, if my understanding of astronomy is any good, the Earth's magnetic field deflects the solar winds, not the ozone. So we're safe from that at least. But you sound pretty informed, you may know more than me about this.

global cooling huh? makes sense...

...if global warming continues, it could cause catastrophic events to occur such as huge volcanic eruptions that could potentially cover the Earth in a blanket of ash which would prevent the sun from getting through, thus cooling the Earth and causing another ice age.

these kind of events have happened to Earth before...it's kind of like Earth's way of cleansing itself.

the virus thing is definitly true..."mother nature" is trying to wipe us off the planet as we speak...or atleast limit our numbers...we're just too crafty to outwit her....so far.

I'll have to agree with you on that Sparkle, I think global warming is natural but I think Human pollution is speeding it up.

I am so glad that you are not a global warming scientist. The O-zone layer has nothing to do at all with the problem of global warming. They are two completely different, though closely related, issues.

I have not done enough research on Global Warming to debate it, however if there is a chance, even a slight chance that human beings are the cause, why not just make some changes (less SUVs, better pollution policies, etc) in order to prevent it? It seems like common sense. .

Having less SUVs no matter what would be a good thing, as for better pollution policies, we need that just for the fact that it hurts peoples lungs. We simply need to find a better fuel.

it's not as easy as just making a few changes...there are more problems than JUST gas guzzlers...

...such as overpopulation.

That's why. Also because people are selfish and foolish enough to believe that everything will just work itself out and that we have absolutely no responsibility to this planet or our fellow inhabitants. Money makes the world go round and we want money, money, money so we allow Exxon Mobil and others to pay to create bogus science initiatives and organisations that do nothing but promote ignorance.

Yep, last time we thought we could take a resource with no sense of self control we almost whiped out the Buffalo.
