Let me start off by saying Cap2 and DOFP were arguably better movies from a technical stand point. Directing, story, pacing etc. However I personally had such good time watching this, I walked away enjoying the movie more than Cap2 and DOFP.

The biggest criticism was that it was too goofy but I love that it doesn't take itself too seriously. Not all comic book movies have to be The Dark Knight.

I think it also helped that Spiderman is a childhood fave of mine, and this movie captured the humor, personality and movement of Spiderman better than any other live action incarnation so far.

I did. TASM2 is easily my top Spider-man movie and probably my top superhero movie. I am still shocked at the negativity it receives. If I had seen this movie before reading RT critics I would have thought the movie would be in the upper 80s at least. Most of the critisms on the movie I totally disagree with or feel overblown and nitpicky for the sake of being nitpicky.

DOFP blew TASM 2 away. As much as I disliked Cap 2, I think it's still a better movie overall than TASM 2. Spider-Man definitely lost the superhero battle this year... I wonder how GOTG will match up.

TASM2 and DOFP were on par.
Cap2 was mediocre
I could'nt understand the hype it got, Cap1 was far better.
But that's just my two cents :)

The last 20 minutes of TASM2 blew Cap 2 and DoFP out of the water. Absolulely sensational, moving, very powerful. Typified what Spider-Man was all about.

As entire films, TASM2 nudged them just a little, DoFP second and Cap 2 third.

All fantastic movies though, best year for CBM's in ages.

Was thinking it might be cool to add a poll as well

No it didn't. That final scene of DOFP with Wolverine walking up and seeing everything normal was better.

Also Cap & Winter Soldier had at least a better relationship then Peter & Harry.

I completely agree with you :woot:

I disagree, the effects and CGI, as well as the build up was so ever the top that at a certain point i just became numb to all that action.

I had more of a amusement entertainment from ASM2 than I had from DOFP.

I enjoyed DOFP a bit more but I also enjoyed Spidey as well just not as much I think.

I think emotional impact is very subjective. I'm a spider-man fanboy, so I'm naturally going to like the spider-man stuff more. As a fanboy, it gave me goosebumps, just the whole death thing+him living her words+ Rhino's face when spider-man came back+ him clearly fighting back his mental demons.

Just a great "rise from the ashes" moment, really impacted me.

DoFP ending was lovely, but time travel always messes with my head, and I'm not that emotionally invested in X-Men.

Yep, Cap+WS had a heaps better relationship than Spidey+Goblin.

Nobody knows...

These other people, the-they, they have opinions! It's crazy!

I can see why it's a silly question objectively, but we operate in a subjective world.

Absolutely not. Both Cap 2 and especially DOFP blow TASM 2 away.

For me TASM 2 didn't do anything better than those movies.

Neither of the movies had a romance story so there's no comparison there with TASM 2.

Fair point.

Can I excuse Dr Kafka? Because the other films didn't have Doctor Kafka and it would be really great if we could pretend he (she?) didn't happen

Whatever emotional impact TASM 2 had, or could have had, was watered down by their absurd marketing, especially of the climax of the movie. Anybody with an internet connection could figure out that Gwen was going to die...

Are we seriously going to argue about how a movie affected me emotionally.

I've already conceeded that it's a subjective thing, it didn't do it for you, it did it for me. It didn't do it for the dog, she just sits there moping, it did it for Avenging Spidey, he's still crying, although it's unclear whether that's due to the actual movie or how it performed on RT/BO.

I knew Gwen was going to bite the dust, I watched every morsel of footage I could still, was still blown away.

Yeah, they do. Who wants to start a thread comparing MOS to TDK and SM2? I'm sure there's tons of opinions we'd love to hear about how MOS was just as good if not better.

You see why it's a silly question, yet you rate TASM 2 higher than the other two movies? Which one is it?

Sorry that I confused you, let's clear up what I said.

"I see why it's a silly question objectively, but we operate in a subjective world"

Objectively:

RT scores

DoFP: 91%
Cap 2: 89%
Spider-man 2: 52%

Subjectively.

>insert the previous two months of discussion and debate here.

Still confused? :)

RT scores

DoFP: 91%
Cap 2: 89%
Spider-man 2: 52%

BRAB scores

DoFP: 90%
Cap 2: 80%
Spider-man 2: 95%

There's an outlier here, I'll find it eventually.

Does the objective data not pull any weight?

Wut?

Peter&Harry was miles better than Cap&Winter soldier! The latter barely had any "relationship" during Cap2. All those scenes they shared together were based on the relationship during Cap1 - which imo was the far better movie of the two anyway.
