Did the villains remind you of The Lost Boys?

Emo is short for emotional. Plain and simple. It may have started as a musical form but it has expanded from that.

The only people who calls emo anything other than a music form are people who hate it...or dont understand it

Therefore it is still just a music form.

Besides, if everyone decided that opera was now a look that all fat people have would you agree that my mom is opera???

It makes no sense...Chiodos looks the same as Atreyu, ones a metal band and one is screamo...to call them both emo is absurd. Theya re two different forms of music that look the same. If i put on boots and a cowboy hat I dont somehow become country.

Face it, man, the term emo have gone beyond the music. When you say "emo" the first thing to pop into people's mind is a kid all dressed in black who cuts himself.

really? thast not what anyone I know thinks of...

Is cutting exclusive to emo fans? I think not...I KNOW not.

Is black exclusive to emo fans? Nope, not at all.

In fact...you say that emo means emotional...what does that mean?? Pantera is very emotional...as is my bipolar ex girlfriend...as is Schindlers list. Your own definition was "emotional" which is absolutely absurd.

Listen, I dont like emo at all...my career makes me HAVE to work with a lot of emo bands...but I dont like the music...however, it is not up to the people who dislike a genre to determine what that genre is. Its up to those who like it...thats how it always has been and always will be.

Comic books are just kids stuff...its all goofy stories for children that adults shouldnt read...MILLIONS of people in this country think that. More people think that comics are childish than even know what the word emo is...that doesnt make it so.

Also...Id like to point out that your description of emo means "wears eyeliner and cuts"

Not only does cutting not only pertain to emo fans, but the majority of emo fans do not cut.

You just painted an entire group of people with a brush of having a serious emotional problem.

Your ignorance of the people involved, and your ignorance of their music, and your ignorance of a very serious problem like cutting means that you have no business attempting to define something that you have such little understanding of.

The teens in Lost Boys were punk-goth. In Ghost Rider, the villains were just emo looking.
Really? I thought they were going for more of a goth look.

...I'm beginning to think people can't tell the difference.

people cant tell the difference.

they dont like it, they dont understand it, so they just assume its all the same.

Its just like how my dad thinks theres no difference between Motley Crue and metallica...he hates both...he thinks they sound alike...he thinks they look alike...

WTF? Well at least he's older so it makes sense with the whole "You damn kids and your music" thing. But it's mostly young people that can't tell the difference between goth and emo these days and abuse the crap out of the word. Like everybody wearing black is emo.

Thats because the entertainment world and cliques are so splintered and sheltered that they just generalize everything. I've had hundreds of people tell me that Avenged Sevenfold are emo, when they are in fact a (horribly bad) power metal band.

meanwhile the people in the cliques want to seperate themselves from everyone else, and they become even more splintered...which is why terms for music forms that dont exist were invented.

Heretic is emo, but he just can't accept the label. ;)

I'm not defending it. truth is that i cant stand emo music (or any scene music really...i hate screamo, hardcore, metalcore etc). I listen to almost nothing but 80's glam, with a few others thrown in.

There is a difference between explaining and defending.

Its like if someone said that Charles manson started WW2...if I said he didnt i wouldnt be defending him...and I could still not like the guy...

thats what I do, I clear things...I'm the Valtrex of forum posters...

This thought didn't cross my mind at all but, I guess I can get where this idea is coming from...
