The Wolverine Difference between the leaked script and the film

I have read the original script from Christopher McQuarrie. A few details about the story:
  • The immortality theme is non existing
  • In the beginning of the story we find Logan in Canada, he is suffering from amnesia
  • Logan comes to Japan at the promise of getting information about his forgotten past
  • Wolverine is the only mutant in the story
  • Shingen is the main villain
  • Viper works for Shingen
  • Harada and Viper are lovers
  • Harada is the Silver Samurai (classic costume)
  • The Black Clan is central to the plot

See I liked that there were only 3 mutants in the film (not including Jean because you can't seen as though she isn't real or the post credits scene) but I wouldn't want Logan to be the only one. You need someone that could maybe match him physically.

Would have been interesting to see the classic costume played out in the movie with say just an adamantium sword.

That's whats I thought.

Tbh I hope Aronofsky stays away from CBMs his ideas are bizarre sometimes.

I really hope Mangokd returns to the X-Franchise or even the comic book genre,

Remember his ideas for the Batman reboot?

Alfred is a car mechanic, Bruce going after criminals with baseball bat etc

Aronofsky to me, is a fraud, overrated director, I stand by it and his ideas on Batman and this are absolutely terrible, hope he never gets to do a comic book movie because he's absolutely going to butcher it.

LOL i wouldn't call him a fraud, but he seems to think that his ideas are better than the source materials, judging by how he changed some things completely...

He's got a beautiful style. The final ten minutes of Black Swan are just stunning (thanks, in huge part of Natalie Portman bringing it) but I can't say his failed attempts at breaking into the comic book adaptation world have filled me with confidence.

His Batman and Wolverine may have been wonderfully crafted films, I'm sure, but are they what I want from those characters? Probably not.

He was looking into some comic works awhile ago.I think he wanted to turn one of his movie idea into a comic series that he'll be writing. Don't remember what happened exactly, but i think for some reason, he met up with some resistance from the comics pro's...including Jason Aaron.

I think Aaron wrote an erticle about it on why he thought that was a bad idea...don't remember all the exact details.

Yeah which is really funny when he says we (him and Frank Miller) knew they would never make it. So in other words they took WBs for their money. Very classy.

He really said that?!?

Thanks, I think I've found the original script. I haven't read it yet though, and I'm still not sure its the real thing. Did the one you read have a character named Zen in it?

I agree.

Though I wish Harada was replaced with a mutant like Sunfire.

In terms of Aronfosky's script, well from what I can recall it had no X3 elements and was a prequel set firmly in the 80s, the word mutant is never mentioned. Logan served as a Yakuza enforcer, there wasn't anything with Yashida and his respect for the Wolverine. Mariko was an actress, Logan at one point wore his yellow and brown costume complete with mask. Silver Samurai was actually three Yashida brothers who wore electrofied armor against Logan. Yukio was like an antagonistic side love interest that tried to provoke Logan's more animalistic tendencies and they had a very powerful sexual relationship, like the Frank Miller version, at one point she had sex with another woman on a train while Logan watched, and towards the end when he decided to pick himself up from the gutter and try to gain honor he ended things with her and then killed her when he found out she was working with Singen. Shingen was more or less the primary antagonist who Logan defeats at the end. The film ends on a downer with Logan being imprisoned.

You know you've got Aronofsky's attention when there's girl-on-girl action involved.

Well, the Aronofksy script sounds terrible.

darren is like tarantino he would not respect the source material and would change characters and soruce material to fit his vision of what he wants the character to be

darren is a guy who should just create his own super hero

Yeah, I just read the script and almost none of this is true. The main thing I liked better about the the script was its portrayal of Silver Samurai. There are things about the film version I like better as well such as their portrayal of Mariko and her relationship with Logan.

If Darren was going to use Christopher McQuarrie's script as he was reportedly doing, then it actually would have been truer to the comics.
