Different big casting ideas discussions. First off, Galactus

Should Galactus be CGI? The Surfer surely will be.

I see no need to make him a completely computer generated or animated character like the Hulk or JarJar or Gollum.

He's basically, physically looking anyway, a human. There's no really good reason why you would make him, that kind of CGI unless you completely alter him from his comic book origin. And I've heard no better suggestion than having him the human-appearing being he is.

Obviously you need to use SFX to make the person appear, what? 50 feet tall? But they've been doing that in the movies for ages with actual people in suits. So they should be able to really make some variation on that effect look great these days.

And for certain shots the figure would definetly be completely CGI, but for the majority of them, especially closeups, it's just a dumb idea when CGI is still not at a level where it can fool the human eye into thinking a CGI human face that's talking is an actual human face talking.

I believe Galactus is 28.9 feet tall. What you say does make sense. However, although we are not at the level where we can fool the human eye, we are getting very close. It's definitely within a few years.

Here's a quick rundown of my choices:

Clancy Brown you've probably seen in Highlander. He was Christopher Lambert's enemy.

^^I'd love to see a Galactus manip of this.

Peter Weller I guess you know from Robocop.

Vladamir Kulich you can see in 13th Warrior where he steals the movie with his great acting.

I don't care if they show Galactus in a Fantastic Four sequel, or in a Silver Surfer movie. All I want is that they give him enough respect.
Galactus is a God-like entity, therefore he should, nay must, be portrayed by an exceptional actor. Someone who made great strides in modern acting. An Academy award winner!!
Therefore I vote for the man himself Jack Nicholson!!!

Jack is a good actor but his voice isn´t quite right for the role. I´d go with Hugo Weaving, he should have been Dr. Doom IMO but would also make a great choice for Galactus.

I don't know if they're going with an actor or CGI version of Galactus. For a CGI version, I like the idea of going with Anthony Hopkins. Other actors that might be considered are Clancy Brown, Peter Weller or Vladamir Kulich. All of those guys would have great voices for the big guy.

Funny thing, I couldn't find any decent face shots of Galactus online if they went the actor route so I had to scan one:
