Arrow Dinah Laurel Lance/Katie Cassidy Thread - Part 3

The difference between the Black Canary and Robin is he's a teenage side kick and she's a hero on the Green Arrow's level. She is one of the few characters let alone women to survive the era when comics nearly died. She's as pivotal to the Green Arrow mythos as Mary Jane Watson is to Spider-Man without the damsel in distress label normally assigned to the hero's love.

While I really, really want her to be kept around, I do not agree that she has to be kept around because she is essential for the show or anything. I have read lots of Green Arrow comics where BC does not feature, and she also does her own thing in the comics too. Laurel has been on the show for 4 seasons and there has been a "Canary" for three of the four seasons, so BC has featured on this show. It is not like they brushed over her or anything. She has featured in this universe's GA's life.

I still don't agree that keeping BC is essential or as important as the poster I quoted was making out. You can have a great, comic accurate GA show without her. This shows problems and decline in quality has little to do with not enough characters or stuff from the comics being used, it is down to other things, I would say. Nobody was complaining in season 1 and 2 about there being no BC, and most people would have happily had Laurel killed off in season 1, with no Canary on the show at all. I also think some of the complaints (not from you) are hypocritical, as I am sure that a lot of BC fans would be happy if they had a show with BC as the star, and it did not feature GA much.

I have never been happy with the actor, and things were made worse when we have a far more believable Canary to compare her to. Basically, it got to the point where I started fast forwarding her scenes. It would be nice to not have to do that anymore. Whatever the Black Canary is suppose to be, she never embodied it to me.

I always thought she was miscast, and also gravely mishandled. I still say it started all with Episode 1. Black Canary was dying, before she was even born. They must have realized that themselves, when they introduced Sara in Season 2.

Possible Evil E2 Laurel is making an appearance on an episode of The Flash, Katie was filming last last night

Erm, was this posted today? Or was it posted last night before the clock struck midnight anywhere?

I have to say,
if it is Laurel who is in the grave, then they have done a terrible job keeping it hidden. Very poor from them and they deserve criticism for it. Quite amateurish stuff. If it is not her, then they deserve praise though, IMO.

For making everyone freak out? Let me think.... Yeah, I agree. When shows have done that to me in the past, I've been like, "YOu evil geniuses! I want to kill you but I love you, and I still want to kill you!" It should surprise no one that the show I said this about the most was the CW's only other superhero property prior to Arrow, "Smallville".

Are we sure she's evil? Is it because of the dark lipstick? Is it too much to hope that she's BC there too? My pipe dream is she can stay on that show (and Thea too!) so I can just stay with The Flash (and Supergirl). I haven't even seen the last 2 episodes of Arrow because the reviews have been sooooo bad so yeah I'm on the way to completely dropping it. :funny:

We're not sure but this photo is a certain someones stunt double which is where the speculation is coming from

Though according to fans on set
She was fighting with Barry, they didn't specify if the with is WITH/Against or helping out, but Cisco/Wally were there, and apparently she filmed a lot of scenes wtih Cisco

She isn't essential to the show as she is currently written but she should be. On a better show Roy and Dinah would be pivotal parts of the show.

Have you been watching the last couple of episodes? So your fast forwarding her parts to see heartbroken emo oliver? Lol

[BLACKOUT]Lisco! [/BLACKOUT] :ilv: :p

In a perfect world, [BLACKOUT]she's E2 BC (with Canary Cry powers and all) and she ends up staying/trapped in E2[/BLACKOUT]. But that's too good to be true...

Have to wonder if they are going for the "have cake and eat it too" here.

E1 Laurel dies but Laurel from E2 comes to E1 and is a metahuman that goes by her first name but her middle.

I hope so. But I have a feeling this will be a one off and just set her up for more possible guest stars. They could make a great story out of it with Dinah losing access home so she goes to Star City to find things drastically different but I doubt that will happen.

If they have her as an earth 2 villain on Flash, maybe they will kill her off just to end the possibility of another version of Laurel coming to help the team :csad:.

I have seen that speculation and if they did that....I may just have to quit this entire universe.

to kill the character, no matter the version, twice in a month would be unforgivable and just laughable

What would your thoughts be if they had to do it because of an order from higher-ups at DC? There have been rumours that they plan to use BC in a JL film, with the hope of establishing the character and setting up a Birds of Prey spin-off.

Had to sit through her scene, because she was talking to Oliver. :funny:

I never liked Oliver on this show unless Barry was around. Barry brings out the best in him. If Oliver was like the character he is on the Flash on Arrow, I'd love him. But I have really liked Oliver this season. The subtle changes have worked for me. Oliver was overly emotional and heartbroken for 3 seasons. Felicity changes that, he seemed actually a bit a peace as a person, and now I don't find him annoying while pining for Felicity.

Even with orders from higher ups, just don't bother introducing that aspect of the character then. Though that would make me want to boycott the films but that probably wouldn't happen.

This is kind of funny to me, as I see it differently. Personally, I think that they make Oliver come across even more serious in the crossover episodes, to highlight the contrast between the two characters. It seems to me like they really want to hit home that Oliver is the dark hero or the Batman of this universe and Barry is the light hero or the Superman of this universe (they have taken a bit from Raimi's Spiderman/Peter Parker too when it comes to Barry, more so in season 1).

I'm excited at the prospect of BC in DCEU so [blackout]mixed feelings for me if they kill TV BC (because I do like KC) to make way for film BC[/blackout].

As for The Flash appearance, I agree that it's probably just a one off thing (kinda like how Firestorm came back in one episode). [BLACKOUT]And it's probably a favor to the Laurel fans who would be devastated with her Arrow death. There's a set video of her strutting around and she is giving me the villain vibes so yeah I think that speculation is correct.[/BLACKOUT]

Bad to the bone. Though not really feeling it, doesn't scream BC to me.

He is more cranky, not more serious imo. Which works perfectly with Barry. Also he just has more fun. Like the arrows in the back.
