I will ask the mods to close this thread when we have our candidates.

1. Each user must nominate 16 candidates, they must have done a minimum of two films in the past 10 years.

2. GOD directors are off limits ( Kubrick, Bergman, Coppola, Orson, Fellini, Kurosawa, etc. You get the gist).

3. Each candidate must get a minimum of five noms to make the list. I will keep updating the masterlist as it fills.

4. They will be divided into 2 groups with eight brackets and given random numbers for their matchups. Example: Bracket #1: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6 etc.

Also, this is all in good fun. Try to forget film history and all that, just pick the directors work you enjoy the most.

My noms:

Nolan
Ridley
Fincher
Coen bros
Tarantino
Scorsese
Aronofsky
Spielberg
Cameron

What's the rule on directing duos?

Still picking my line up... Damn this is harder than I thought.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why exactly are these directors not considered? Personally, I'd put a few directors above most of these. Admittedly, it's a nearly moot point as most of them haven't directed a film let alone two within the last 10 years. But I am curious as I think Coppola should be considered.

I want to do a best director of all time poll next time. Selfish reasons. I know.

Ok, but I think I change my vote there. I forgot Baz Lurhmann and he will take Donner's place.

Six spots left and noticeable directors will be left out if some of ya'll don't vote on time.
