Directors Who Can Say the 80’s Were Their Best Decade

Nice article, though I would've been tempted to include Robert Zemeckis in the list.

They just don´t make movies like they use to anymore

*sighs

Not when you win an Oscar in the 90's for Forrest Gump.

John Hughes was teh best:o:up:

Very interesting article.

Thanks for the link.

T2 is better than the Terminator, so I will duel pistols with him.

You know who else should have been included? Spielberg. All decades have been equally great for him.

`70s = Jaws and Close Encounter
`80s = Three Indiana Jones movies, ET, Color Purple, Empire of the Sun
`90s = Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan
`00s = Minority Report, Munich, and dare I say it...War of the Worlds

And Woody Allen grabbed a few oscars in the 70s for Annie Hall... your point?

That the best movie Zemeckis made wasn't an 80's movie. That is my opinion, of course. Loved Back to the Future. Great movie. Forrest Gump was better (it's all about Lt. Dan!!!).

You may dare say War of the Worlds, it's great.

Disagree. The Terminator is better, though both stand as some of the best works of Science Fiction ever.

Oh, and to those saying WOTW, that movie sucked.

I don't understand the appeal of FG.

I think Contact is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay superior.

If one thing is clear, the 80's were probably the time where movies were the most fresh and idealistic.

I see you suffering the same fate as Biff. :csad:

You mean be an old man washing cars? Or beaten by a weaker man in high school?

I see the `80s as the decade where movies were the most fun. The `70s were great but too damn serious. So, in the `80s you needed to see Indiana Jones running away from a giant rock.
