After seeing SatEL THREAD, I was wondering about the directors side. So what Directors's name do you have to hear to say, "hey I am definitely seeing that film"?

For ex. mine would probably have to be
Chan Wook-Park
David Fincher
Zack snyder
Christopher Nolan
Takashi Miike
Tim Burton

Steven Spielberg
George Lucas
James Cameron
Tim Burton
Peter Jackson
Ridley Scott

I tend to look more for the content of the movie than the director, so the closest I get are Peter Jackson and Spielberg.

David Fincher
Chris Nolan
Joss Whedon
Ridley Scott
Alex Proyas
Guillermo del Toro
Peter Jackson
Tim Burton
Zach Snyder
Sam Riami
Kevin Smith
JJ Abrams
Danny Boyle

Chris Nolan is the only director who will get my money based only on his name.

I will at least Netflix movies by Del Toro and Aranofsky.

I generally pay far more attention to whether the movie looks good or the actors involved.

I adore so many directors, I'll see any movie they put out:

David Fincher
Park Chan-Wook
David Lynch
Yimou Zhang
Peter Jackson
Quentin Tarantino
Wong Kar Wai
Christopher Nolan
Terry Gilliam
David Cronenberg
Mel Gibson
Coen Brothers
Wachowski Brothers
Guillermo Del Toro
Wes Anderson
Martin Scorsese
Edgar Wright
Stephen Chow
Adam Mckay
Paul Thomas Anderson
Takashi Miike

It depends more on the film for me...I don't play favorites with directors.

As with actors, a director will have an influence, but I am not a slave to the names involved in a project. I go see the movie if I think it will be good. There are certain directors, like Spielberg, Fincher, and Nolan, who are pretty safe bets, but I am still not guaranteed to see their stuff in theaters just because they made it.

Chris Nolan
Paul Thomas Anderson
The Coen Brothers

Mine are:

James Cameron
Steven Spielberg
Peter Jackson
Christopher Nolan
Guillermo Del Toro
Quinten Tarantino
Bryan Singer
Sam Raimi
Robert Rodriguez
Neil Marshall

Zach Snyder and Joss Whedon are also creeping up there.

And certain directors like David Fincher, Danny Boyle and Darren Aronofsky I am hit and miss with.
