What are some dream directors you'd like to see get a hold of some of your favorite comic characters?

Martin Scorsese- Batman. Scorsese has made great crime dramas. I think he could create a very gritty, realistic, crime filled Gotham. Ever since the Nolan reboots, this hasn't been AS big of a dream for me, but I'd still love to see it.

Steven Spielberg- Captain America- Ever since I saw Saving Private Ryan, I have wanted Spielberg to make a Captain America movie. Spielberg has had success with WWII films and sci-fi films. Both are needed for a Cap movie.

Michael Mann- The Punisher. Mann directed my favorite shoot-out scene, the bank robbery scene in HEAT. I'd love to see him get his hands on Punisher and see great scenes like that in a Punisher movie.

Definitely Spielberg. If he can mix his love of great story telling with his love of special effects extravaganzas, he could be a great comic book director. Of course, he never mixes the two. Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds were light on story telling. All style, no substance. I doubt he would want to film a comic movie, either.

I think Mann is an awesome choice for Punisher!

I'm insulted. :cmad:

JP may be a bit more flash than weighty in most scenes, but it does convey the primary message of the story quite well, and at the very least shouldn't be lumped in with WotW.

That said, Spielberg is one of the only directors I care for. I'd like to see him take on a comic property. A lower key Martian Manhunter movie done by the man who's responsible for making Extraterrestrials (:cwink:) relatable and deep would be amazing.

Yes, he did at least try to keep the chaos theme alive but I would have appreciated more of Malcom's theory to be explained. I guess it would have slowed the movie's pace down but I still wanted more substance. [whine/]

Malcolm's chaos stuff always felt unnecessary to me. The main theme of how bad science can be without moral limits is the more important aspect of the story in my opinion.

The Chaos Theory is kind of central to the story in both JP and LW (the books).

Spielberg and Lucas before they sold their souls to Satan for CGI "improvements."

I know that Edgar Wright is finishing up work on Scott Pilgrim and STILL is in talks to do Ant-Man..but I would love for him to work on a comic book movie like The Flash.

Danny Boyle (Avengers)
Clint Eastwood (Captain America)
Joss Whedon (X-men)
J.J Abrahms (Fantastic Four)
Gus Van Sant (The Authority)
Kathryn Bigalow (Y: the Last Man)

Adam Shankman
Ben Stiller
Sam Mendes
Baz Luhrmann

Clint Eastwood for Captain America sounds interesting. He did a great job with Flags of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima. I could also see J.J. Abrahms on Fantastic Four working well.

John Woo, Edgar Wright or Shane Black for Deadpool.

Spielberg would be awesome for Avengers. Just imagine that, if Marvel managed to get him on board, it would be ****ing epic.

David Fincher for Moon Knight.

Quentin Tarantino or David Fincher for 100 Bullets.

I agree with your choices Weezer, all well thought. Here is some of mine.

I think Quentin Tarantino for a Punisher re-boot would be cool.

Luv to see what James Cameron could do with....well who ever the hell he chose, lol.

Oliver Stone for Capt. America would be my choice, I think most would not be in my corner on that one but he would be mine.

Terry Gilliam for a Dr. Strange movie would kick ass.

Really? which characters would you like them to adapt, out of curiosity?
Well, obviously not something serious like BATMAN, but I suppose something on the lighter side. Something that would be more stylistic.

I don't know if there's any director who I think would inherently be good for a comic book movie. We don't know until they try, really. Schumacher has made good movies that had nothing to do with Batman. Burton has made crap movies that had nothing to do with Batman. Kevin Smith wrote a Superman script that was leaps and bounds beyond anything he did in the View Askew universe. There are a lot of factors other than a director's resume.

I'd like to see Robert Zemeckis do The Flash (I base this on Back to the Future). I don't know why I think he would be so great with it, but I could really see him in his non-stop motion prime being a great choice for Flash.
